To Clark supporters from a Clark supporter: A hell of a ride!

I'm as upset as the rest of you. I was planning to vote for him next week in Wisconsinn, and have been talking to many people I know about him. I feel let down, and do not plan to vote in the primary, since I am still a bit stung by all of this, and I am not as passionate about the other candidates.

But rest assured, whether you immediately switch to your second choice (which is cool) or hold out until there's a nominee, we owe it to the General and all of the US to vote for the eventual Dem nominee against Bush, whoever that may be.

It was a longshot, but it was a hell of a ride. Unfortunately, the deck was stacked against our guy. But let's remember the good things. Clark changed the dynamics of the Democratic party. Think anyone would be talking about AWOL if it wasn't for Clark? Or that the average person would question Bush's strengths on Iraq or national security? Highly doubtful.

We all feel a bit stung tonight, and this will pass over time. I'm still ABB, and will vote for the guy most likely to defeat him. I strongly suggest we all do this. If not for ourselves, at least for Wes Clark, and for all America. We owe that much.

1. I'm gonna take a breather

I'll switch when there's a nominee. My primaries were last Tuesday. Oklahoma by the way...WHOOO HOOOO CLARK!!! Anyway, for now, I'm just going to sit back and let the process iron itself out. I did my part. I voted for Clark. He won my state.

2. You really ought to support the General in your primary.

If you believe in his campaign, there's no reason not to vote for the candidate that best reflects your values and attributes that you look for in a President.

It's not just who wins or loses, but the aggregate vote of Democrats who are energized to vote Bush out. Include yourself in that message.

I do think it looks good when more people vote in the primaries, regardless of how flawed the process may be.

3. This clears my dance card

My primary was coming up. Now I don't have to concern myself with it.

I'll be around in November to vote for whoever the party chooses to nominate but between now and then my phone is off the hook.

I supported Clark because I didn't feel any of the other candidates were worth supporting. Nothing I've seen since September has changed that opinion at all.

All I am left with is the hope that Bush will somehow screw up so badly that people will be willing to go to the polls to vote against him instead of just staying home in disgust with the entire system.

With what is left in the democratic field, that is the only way Bush is going to lose.

What a shame.

As to Clark himself, I wish him well. He did the best he could and did it in an honorable way. He would have made a great President.

This is not the last we will see of Wes Clark. I have no
regrets. My campaign contributions went to a great man.
I hope he enjoys that new grandbaby. I wouldn't mind him as V.P.

8. Don't let our disappointment slow the overall momentum

Turnout has been huge for all of the primaries so far...that is giving Rove, the RNC, AND the media something to think about. Go and write in the General's name or vote for your second favorite candidate, but show up and vote...it is your right and your duty...and something that Wes Clark would want you to do.

The turnout is the message. Who you vote for is secondary. We are united in the most important objective-taking this administration and the corrupt co-enabling Republican Congress down. We only disagree on the instrument to make it happen.

12. I stand by my original feeling

that we (Dems) did great great disservice to the nation by not nominating General Clark.

Even if Kerry manages to beat Bush in November (I think he can), his coattails will be non-existant, and he'll have to deal with a hostile Congress and media for the next four years. The possibility of him undoing much of Rove's damage will be pretty small, and he'll probably be blamed for much of the disastrous situatio he's inheriting.

I don't think that Kerry has the potential to be a popular (or even beloved) leader the way Clark would be, or to bring lost souls of the heartland back to the party. He's a little too dry, a little too Northeastern, a little too Washington, with a few too many skeletons in the closet. IOW, Rush and his ilk will be able to attack him in a way they wouldn't be able to with Wes. THey've already started talking about his Secret Sex Life. A Kerry presidency will be Clinton redux - weekly rumours, lies, distractions about illegitimate children, drug trafficking, murders, etc.

It may be our destiny that we have to have four more years of BFEE and bottom out wrt the economy, international relations, environmental issues, crime, unemployment, government corruption, and creeping domestic fascism before we can get back on track. I am pretty old to be hitting rock bottom and starting over though.

Wes's defeat has left me feeling very empty and uninspired. I'll of course vote ABB in November, but IMO we missed a chance to put the country back on track.

sticks around for a position of sorts. The eventual Nom and, I hope, winner, can use these candidates to bolster the effort to get this Nation back to sanity.

I am a Dean man but I, too, see the writing in the wall. Even in my disappointment, I realize if Bush is to be retired, it will only come from our collective efforts to vote him out. We must come together behind the nominee to shore up his efforts successfully.

I owe him that much for the hell he's gone through for us the past six months. The only way I would change my mind is if the primary race tightened drastically and my vote might carry some weight. I will be supporting another candidate at some point within the next few days. First I'm going to hear what Wes has to say, then get back to my life a bit. Of course, I will vote the nominee in November.
