Howard Dean vs Harold Ickes?
Dean vs. the 527s? Here's an obvious, extremely non-trivial example of how an "independent" expenditure of money to influence a campaign--even if it involves big bucks--might not be very effective at actually helping a candidate: Call it Howard Dean vs. the 527s. ... Supposed Howard Dean wins the nomination by March, in part by continuing to snipe at the Clinton years. The biggest "independent" Democratic fundraising groups--the so-called 527s--are, its been noted, controlled by Clintonites. The Media Fund, for example, which is trying to raise $95 million for an ad campaign, is run by former Clinton aide Harold Ickes. National Journal notes Ickes' plans to run ads during the period between next March and the summer convention in which the winning primary candidate often runs out of funds. Does Dean really want the party's message in this crucial period shaped by the very faction of the party with which he's picked a fight

8. This is one reason why Dean opted out of federal matching funds
so he won't be silent. Maybe the author of this piece should read up on that. It is after all what he is paid to do, is it not?

Yes Mickey has a history of being lazy. In a moment I will edit this with a link. See if you still find Mickey knows his job or not when I am done.

Here is my link to an earlier lie he told about Dean.

BTW if Kaus is right and I am wrong here, where oh where is Bush getting his money from?

22. That Mickey is a liar who hates Dean
and is lying here.

National Journal notes Ickes' plans to run ads during the period between next March and the summer convention in which the winning primary candidate often runs out of funds. Does Dean really want the party's message in this crucial period shaped by the very faction of the party with which he's picked a fight.

end of quote

Dean will not be out of money due to the fact that he isn't following the rules that would have made him out of money. Mickey surely knows this but yet again lies in our faces.

Her answer was "uuum yes, Mickey Kaus". She said this over a year ago as a guest on "Hardball" or similar type of pundit program.

Fuck the DLC. We're taking back the party and the country.

Join us and work to make the United States by the people of the people and for the people, or just keep standing on the sidelines throwing rocks. Because soon you'll be standing on the outside looking in.

If Howard Dean is the front-runner as of March 2004, he will get lots of money directly to his campaign from individual Democrats.

I'm going to the give the maximum of $2,000 to whichever Democrat is leading after the March 2, 2004 Super Primaries.

Regarding 527s, the Move On Voter Fund is a significant 527, and that isn't controlled by the DLC.

Consider contributing to the Move On Voter Fund, and/or spreading this link around the internet:

20. It's more like Howard Dean vs George Soros
Edited on Sat Dec-27-03 03:08 PM by Tinoire
Soros is a neo-con/liberal (ultimately no damn difference between the two except how cleverly you hide your neo game); the last person he wants in this race is someone who is not on his same agenda of destablizing other countries and stealing their resources. Soros is out for one candidate only. Kind of bizarre how millions of the 10 million he pledged went straight to the Media Fund?

Soros' Carlyle money is bad news for Progressive Liberals.

=============================

Ickes' new prominence stems in part from the money he is raising for the race. As president of the Media Fund, a new Democratic advocacy group created with millions of dollars in seed money from philanthropist George Soros, Ickes has been crisscrossing the country with Ellen Malcolm, president of Emily's List, a political action committee that backs Democratic, pro-abortion rights female candidates.

Ickes and Malcolm are talking to wealthy donors — now prohibited from giving soft money to political parties — about contributing to the Media Fund as well as to Americans Coming Together, another Soros-backed advocacy group headed by Malcolm and aimed at improving voter turnout in November. Ickes calls it "a seamless campaign," an outreach to urge individuals, unions and corporations that used to give their millions to the Democratic National Committee to send their largess instead to the so-called 527 committees (named for the Internal Revenue Code section that sanctions them) that are the new power brokers.

25. To Late
It is to late to worry about that, Dean has already won the primary. Now the Democratic leaders who have rolled over for B###. again and again have to decide what there going to do. Back B### or help Dean take America away from the big money. Dean is going to whip on B#### so bad it won't matter what they do, but it will be remembered. Go Dean!!!!!!
