WASHINGTON (CNN) -- In recent months, ABC News-Washington Post polls showed Sen. Hillary Clinton running 40 points higher than Sen. Barack Obama among blacks voters asked to name their preference in the Democratic primary.

But in Wednesday editions, the Washington Post reported a poll that has Obama leading Clinton by 11 points among black voters -- 44 percent to 33 percent....That change represents a stunning 24-point swing, but does it mean the black community has embraced the Illinois Democrat as its candidate?...

"Obama does have a plurality of black voters right now. He doesn't have a majority yet," CNN Polling Director Keating Holland said. "That means a majority of blacks still aren't sure about him....

Among blacks, Obama's favorables are high (70 percent), but Clinton's are higher (85 percent)....Blacks, in part, may be slow to warm to the candidacy of Obama because, a CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll suggests, they are less likely than whites to believe that America is ready for a black president.

The poll, conducted December 5-7, 2006, found that 65 percent of whites thought America was ready, compared with 54 percent of blacks...."There is this doubt 'But is America ready for a black president?' " (George Wilson, the host of XM Radio's "GW on the Hill") told CNN. "And the overall consensus from my callers is that America is not ready for an African-American president."...

Part of Obama's problem with black voters is that he is viewed by whites as the first black candidate with a legitimate shot at the White House.

"When white America has embraced a candidate -- as they have with Barack Obama -- there is a certain amount of distrust that goes with this among a number of African Americans," Wilson said....

They have never had a candidate with the appeal of Obama. So why not. The only thing is, I don't think the whole country is ready for a black. Although Obama is really a fresh face and a good guy he won't make it. And while I am at it I don't think they'll go for Hillary either because she is a woman. But really, it's way too soon to anoint or dismiss anyone.

What happens if Candidate X or Y gets up at Debate Time and stumbles badly? Or makes so much damned sense that people who said "I hate that candidate and won't vote for X or Y" are forced to retract their views?

I'm really getting sick of this media horseshit. Polls without end, AMEN, without ANY debates. New frontrunners, created with media spin and hype. Old frontrunners, who weren't really frontrunners at all, but simply had name recognition, declared passe. A bunch of asshole talking heads telling people what to think, without any direct input from the candidates.

The truth of the matter is, this week's champion could be next week's goat.

It's just too soon. If the media keeps this shit up they'll turn everyone off the process.

The debates will tell the tale, if they're run well and have good moderators.

aware that minority precincts are where bad things happen. Ohio, Florida, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, Colorado, Nevada.

I never really knew before 2004 that election theft was a race crime. It is. And the harder you look, the more obvious it becomes.

I don't have any horse in this race unless a clean election becomes a goal, all by itself.

Home Chicago, for example. And people can be forced to wait for ten hours in St. Louis for the privilege.

It's also way easier to play games in precincts where there are too many voters and too few places to vote.

It might be time to change the whole system--have voting over a two day period, on a weekend or a holiday, to give more people time and reduce stress and congestion at the polls.

like obama. 7,000 to 22,000. In Ohio he had a fundraiser where he drew twice as many as Bill clinton did a few months ago. And more keep coming. In Austin, where he drew 20 to 22,000 people they said there were people in the trees. And with that many people, who can bring them all to a hush and then to a cheer.
