Is John Edwards playing possum to hide the strength of his fundraising operation?
"That's the betting inside Democratic political circles as the overheated 2008 presidential primary races toward its first critical deadline: the March 31 financial disclosure reports."

"Unlike other campaigns, Edwards hasn't released the names of fundraising team members, and the campaign demurs when asked its quarterly goal, saying only that it intends to exceed the $7.4 million Edwards raised in the 2003 first quarter."

Excellent strategy, IMO.

1. They are all playing the "money game". It's the responsible thing to do!
More from that article....

But the Edwards camp hasn't hesitated to comment on the fundraising strength of others. Sen. Barack Obama had barely opened his campaign office in January when Edwards' allies began suggesting that the former vice presidential candidate couldn't keep up with the Illinois newcomer. Ditto, they said, for the star-studded operation of Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (N.Y.).

Those comments set off howls from Obama's headquarters and prompted Howard Wolfson, a Clinton spokesman, to raise expectations for both Edwards, who he predicted would post $20 million in his March report, and Obama, who he though would raise $40 million. Thus began a fierce behind-the-scenes spinning war between the campaigns as they try to set expectations in the "money primary."

2. I agree..
you'll have your answer though, on March 31st.

One thing I will say, Edwards looks exhausted and shuns the microphone when plunged in his face.
Not surprising both candidates look like they need an entire weekend of pure sleep.

The only one who thrives on this type of activity is the formidable Hillary.
She's wearing the poor boys out with her non stop fundraising agenda.. heh!

5. I got an e-mail from Edwards asking for money this week to meet fundraising goals
They claimed they were about $97K short of their $1M goal.

I did not send them money.

6. I think they they raised the rest of the $97
Interesting that Clinton and Edwards both used the internet to raise one million dollars. Shows the power of the three top candidates, they can send our e-mails and the money flows in!!
