McCain says the troops he urged and surged into Iraq have
wasted their lives.
As we'll surely see, "gotcha" politics don't stick as much to Repubs as they do to Democrats.
His statement won't matter much to the MSM, because McCain is not only a war hero, he's as Glenn Greenwald says, "
serious." That is,
he always wants war.
John "Botched Joke" Kerry, though, is less serious. After serving with distinction in Vietnam, he indulged in the triviality of protesting the war because it was unnecessary and unwinnable. Gawrsh, what a lightweight!
Obama said the troops had been "wasted," too, and like McCain he apologized. But unlike McCain, he's unserious. That goofball thought we shouldn't have been in Iraq at all! And they let airheads like this in the Senate!?
So when jokesters like Kerry and Obama say, or are deliberately misinterpreted to say, something disrespectful of the troops, it's a
serious affront.
Also, there are two serious WTF moments in the linked article:
A former Navy pilot, (McCain) has emerged as the Senate’s go-to guy on Iraq.
What on earth does that mean? In the Senate that the GOP lost because of war policies he's rabidly championed, he's the "go-to guy"!? Who goes to him (Bush) and with what result (quagmire)? He should be called the "don't-fucking-listen-to-him guy."
Obama's apology for his own "waste" comment makes no sense, either:
“Their sacrifices are never wasted,” he said.
Why not? This politically correct talking around the realities of sending people to kill and die is a big part of the problem. Why can't someone stand up and say, "these people risk everything to defend the country, and we fucking wasted their lives — and it has to stop!"? Because when you can't admit the last guy died in vain, you're condemning the next one to that very same fate.
