Mitt Romney is already running ads in FL
Much to by shock, I turned on my local news at 10:00 and saw that the Romney for President campaign was already running ads in my state of Florida.

I had heard that Romney was going to hit the ground running in Florida, but this seems a bit early. Rumors are that Jeb Bush's people are going to back Romney, while Gov. Charlie Crist is supporting McCain. They must be really desperate to get name recognition up early. I've read in the paper that the FL GOP might run a straw poll in late 2007, and Romney looks likely to win that. I don't like Romney, but I'll concede that he's done a good job of mobilizing supporters. While only polling in single digits, Romney's been effective in getting his backers to these events (such as the CPAC gathering).

In all my time watching campaigns, I've never seen primary ads running nearly a year before the Iowa caucuses.

1. Maybe he is getting another Katherine Harris in line

With Jeb's help. You note how the GOP dumped Harris after they used her. It was rather pathetic when she was shut off from D.C. parking privileges. She thought it was life time.

2. They did dump Harris
They did everything to get rid of Harris. They would have preferred disgraced Rep. Mark Foley to Harris for Senate.

It's hilarious that an endangered Freshman senator like Bill Nelson essentially got a free ride in re-election against Harris. I guess they were afraid that ole' Kat would spill the beans about GW Bush's skullduggery in 2000.

3. Well, Jeb Bush has already endorsed him, and GWB thinks he should be the 2008 GOP nominee
so why not? The Bush family wants him, and the elites in the country are praying for a Hillary nomination so the we can have Hillary/someone versus Romney/Jeb Bush.

12. i think
i think JEB wants Romney cuz he knows mitt will lose - and then JEB can run for prez in 2012 against Hillary. Jeb doesnt want to wait until 2016, when he'll be too old.

4. Do the ads mention the Coultergeist endorsement?
It's time to make her a very bony albatross abound Shitt Romney's neck.

5. I agree
Make Ann Coulter a force in the GOP primary. The Freepers are already supporting Coulter and her bigoted comments. Make the "Republican base" acknoweldge and endorse bigots like Ms. Coulter.

6. Well, Romney has issued a statement
condemning her comments; well maybe, sort of, not exactly...

"Kevin Madden, a spokesman for Mr. Romney, said: “It was an offensive remark. Governor Romney believes all people should be treated with dignity and respect.”

Mr. Romney preceded Ms. Coulter at the event and mentioned that she was speaking later — he jokingly referred to her as a “moderate.” But he was not in the room when she spoke, Mr. Madden said."

10. One of those jokes that's not really a joke: Coulter IS the publican
mainstream; we need to get the public at large to see this.

8. Guv candidate Dick DeVos aired ads in Michigan starting in February last year
...nine months before the election. Of course, he's a billionaire (his dad co-founded Amway).

Thankfully, Jennofer Granholm cleaned his clock last November, winning 56-42% (530,000 votes).

13. The FL State Legislature is moving FL's primaries up.
They will happen 1 week after NH thus making FL relevant (finally) in Presidential primary politics.

Expect to see a lot of ads in FL that you've never seen before...
