CPAC STRAW POLL RESULTS: (Gingrich will lock up the GOP nomination imo)
CPAC STRAW POLL RESULTS:
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070303/ap_on_el_pr/conservatives_notebook_1

Mitt Romney 21%
Rudy Giuliani 17%.
Sam Brownback 15%
Newt Gingrich 14%
John McCain, 12%,

My trake on how this plays out:

- Romney can not win period. His support among conservatives ultimately get distributed but the majority will go to Gingrich 11-13%

- This means Giuliani is the degfault Conservative candidate (remember they hate him)

- Next Browback drops out - he's gonna Vilsack it - his support is distributed = boost Gingrich by 5-8%

- Before Gingrich announces he is at 35% or better among conservatives

- McCain will wither - 4-5% to Gingrich

- Gingrich will announce and he will then proceed to drive a stake through Giuliani's political heart. This is Newt we are talking about. He almost dropped Clinton remember. This ole boy knows how to go big game huntin. He will own the Conservative base. But by killing off Giuliani no one else will be left standing.

End Game: Gingrich is the GOP Nominee for 08

1. OH PLEASE don't tell me that! I live in Ga. and the idea of Newt
as a candidate has been scaring me for quite a while now. I know there aremany here on DU who say he'd be easy to beat because of his indiscretions, but NEVER underestimate Newt! He has an unusual ability to swaya lot of people to his side, just by the way he talks to them. Scary as it is, PEOPLE LIKE HIM! Kinda like they liked Shrub in 2000!

3. yeah, except that we've all had ENOUGH of that
he would have an easy time when the cons were riding high, but right now, he's too identified with the worst of the vicious, negative partisanship.

honestly, i think his time has come and gone.

5. OH DAMN, I hope you're right, but I've seen Newt in action.
I can hear it all now. "Remember the Contract with America? THAT was MY IDEA! Comeon folks, put me in the WH and we will bring all that back for you!"

I'm sorry, but I think you are not only underestimating Newt, but underestimating the stupidity of the voters as well!

10. His favorable/unfavorable ratings are usually the worst of any candidate
even Hillary. Rasmussen has him at 43% fav 48% unfav, and I have seen even worse from him. I think he is the one we want to get the nomination.

4. We could never dismiss him, but he is very vulnerable. He's also very good at fooling some of the
people, some of the time. Very good. MKJ

6. Oh,. yeah, he can go big game hunting. And THEN he always
shoots himself in the foot.

He's in the background politically at the moment due to his very own hand. He's a blabbermouth narcissist who can't help but sabotage himself.

It's ugly, and delicious, all at the same time. I can't wait til he gets into the race. He'll make this thing real interesting, all the way up until he self-destructs. With any luck, that won't be complete until early Nov. 2007.

7. How will Newt explain his 2 divorces and endless philandering?
He is on the same moral boat as Rudi.
