Watched news last 36hrs? You witnessed how Giuliani will get the free pass

on just about every personal deficit he has - and expect the NBC's to lead the way on protecting him.

Giuliani has had the run of 30 Rock for 15 years.

The CNN contingent is already in full worship mode, led by Candy Crowley.

And what of the Democratic 'strategist' class (ala Carville) who claim to be the tough voices the Dems need? How will they be able to push Giuliani's personal failings without setting themselves and their candidates up as hypocrites?

The corpmedia is laying the groundwork necessary for the battle THEY want to have in 2008.

2. Some weary speculations
though it is like trying to watch a square dance of blindfolded people where curiously nothing disturbs the flow. You know there must be some reason, but you seem the one blind to it.

As with other alternates to the misery in DC, the media props the 'outsiders" the no-chances, the convenient distractions. Whatever the prupose, a bi-paritsan smarmy substitute for what people really want in American leadership, is something like a pre-season pro-bowl where no one is supposed top get hurt. Powell, McCain, Bradley, Tsongas, and people the media just seem to like as "refreshing" or whatever all seem to have the single effect of never doing good for the Dems and never doing bad for the GOPs. That might not be planned but for sure the GOP knows how to set them up and knock them down.

The GOP already knows how to pull the plug on Rudy, whose power and people base is already isolated and vulnerable. The Kerik episode might have been both a warning(unheeded) and trial balloon. Then there is that single u-tube video that can end up in mailboxes both virtual and real anytime. then there is New York state where the truculent Conservative base and the Pataki machine are not necessarily enthusaistic partners, nor NYC the domain of as many(if not more) avid enemies as supporters. But if there is no contest with the stiff they currently want in(Romney), the anointing will transition oimmediately to the political morgue. So, as far as the Bush establishment is concerned, with McCain fading as a tired sparring partner, Rudy makes an easy, more entertaining action script to write. As far as the reprtoers and newssrooms go, without WH or outside pressure, they have a green light to schmooze with a "great" prospect. That is as good as a deep conspiracy which is beyond the professional and mental capacities of most of them.

The only Democratic "outsider" they woouldn't savage would be also a sure no-chancer, but there is no Joe to fawn over, no Dean to beat up on and all the top contenders are fearsomely sure to win if left to unfettered democratic devices. That would be a yawn without(and again a big green light) the banana peel press corps irritated at being yanked from the Anna Nicole big story. So they trash and backstab Dems liberally even as they lock on to superficiality.

This whole MSM thing predictably has the ordinary citizen agin worried, discouraged, misled and in the fog. Or supposed to be. If things go to script, the odds, and they don't always, it will be Hillary versus Romney after an "excitingly" predictable primary contest. Or if the Dems make things difficult with the will of the people somehow screwing things up, the story will be a media plagued people's choice and fog, lots of fog machines to cover the sinking GOP ship. The last GOP pol betrayed will be Romney as the Bushes fade from ever being associated with their acceptable puppet. But not fade from controlling the path back to power and power behind the scenes.

3. Tweety was the worst yesterday on Today Show extolling the virtures of Rudy "John Wayne" Giuliani
Edited on Tue Mar-06-07 11:19 AM by flpoljunkie
Video below, if you can stand it. Tweety starts out by saying he's the "least surprised" that Giuliani has surged ahead in the polls. Says Republicans want a strong leader to replace GWB, allthe while extolling Rudy's "street cred" in cleaning up crime in New York. Money can't buy the kind of no holes barred endorsement Tweety gave Rudy yesterday.
