All that's happened is an underling was convicted.

No further investigations.

The case is essentially closed unless Fitz gets 'new information'.

Libby will get a light sentence, if anything at all.

Cheney's free to nurse along his blood clot.

Bush can try to raise his 30 to a 31.5.

We'll hear more about Walter Reed over the next few days or weeks .......

..... and then what ....... ?

I find myself today feeling pretty low.

I find myself today feeling these shitbirds are covered in Teflon.

The ONLY hope I get today comes from a Republican, Chuck Hagel, who is the first Republican to use the word 'impeachment'. And even that gives me little solace. If the Republicans impeach and the Democrats - who are the FUCKING MAJORITY in Congress - just go along for the ride, we may as well just sell off the party's assets and go out of business.

1. DU: A cloud in every Silver Lining!
Maybe I am naive, but there is going to be some fallout for Dick Cheney over this

And don't underestimate Mrs. Libby -- if I were her I would not be enthusiatic about my husband taking the fall for Dick Cheney.

2. Feh .... I'm usually the one with the rose colored glasses .....
I'm the one often called PollyAnthony.

Today, however, I see nothing bad accruing to them over this conviction ..... particularly with the case being closed by the prosecutors.

4. LOL "PollyAnthony" -- remember, Fitz is a lawyer and talks like one
I thought the term he used was "inactive"

Well, I am "inactive" too right this minute, but if the doorbell rings I am going to hop up!

5. Yeah, I feel the same way.
Libby won't really serve his time, Cheney's no worse off now than when this whole thing started and they still got away with it. It's kind of a let-down.

6. Yes you are so not alone in your thoughts
Libby convicted SO WHAT? Bitter tears. It's Cheney and Bush and Rove that are guilty and nothing happens to them. Yeah. I call it treason. Yeah I know Libby will probably get a very light sentence and I would bet you one million dollars-imagine Dr. Evil-no I NEVER lose my bitter sense of humour-what else DO we have???!!! that he will be pardoned.

And the real killers (of truth, of Democracy) go free.

7. The only hope that the story is not over
Pflame & Wilson have a civil suit ongoing. Rules will be different, Cheney will be forced to testify or take the 5th.

Perhaps some new developments will emerge.

9. Bob Bennett (both Judy Miller's and Bill Clinton's defense atty) said they'd probably not ....
.... be able to even get that case heard. He said it isn't impossible, but it is highly unlikely.

(Said just today on Hairballz)

8. I think Fitz was nodding in the direction of Congress
Edited on Tue Mar-06-07 06:02 PM by AtomicKitten
telling them the ball is in their court to provide him "new information." Dean was on AA a few minutes ago saying that Congress has more important things to do, like getting out of Iraq, and that those investigations might be down the line somewhat. I'm hoping Congress can, in fact, chew gum and walk at the same time and accomplish these very important tasks concomitantly.

12. Libby's attorneys are going to file for a new Trial..
if that doesn't work, they are going to file an Appeal..response time is usually 20days each..
So, Libby's defense team hasn't settled for the "guilty" verdict at all.

Wilson and Plame are willing and able to go forward with their Civil Suit. We'll
know by the outcome of the two motions if the fix is in, depending how the Judge
responds. If he denys both motions; then we're in business and the fur should fly..
If not, well...it's the same ole, same ole stall in perpetuity.
