People whose candidate dropped out: Whom are you supporting?
Edited on Wed Mar-07-07 09:24 PM by Kerry2008
To all the Kerry, Bayh, Feingold, Vilsack, Warner, and other supporters whom were disappointed when they're guy dropped out....Whom are you supporting now? If anybody, tell us why you support them. And if you don't support anybody, tell us what you're looking for and whom you're leaning towards.

I was originally for Kerry, obviously. I'm now holding out for Clark to enter the race, and really hopeful for Gore. So Clark and Gore are my second and third choices. But I think only one of those two will get in. Edwards and Obama are my next back-up's.

Just curious about who other supporters of drop out candidates are supporting?!?

1. Anyone but Hillary because she's corrupt! Plus she's fat, drinks Ripple, & lies like a bandit!
She closed the books on Pappy Bush, too! Or was that Bill? :silly:

 I don't blame you, I do the same thing.

I like Hillary. And she is not even close to being fat. She seems to stay in good shape. As long as she tells Bill to put down the Whoppers for his heart, she's doing alright ;)

...and I thought of you.

 Thanks for the jump start. But this is too civil for our liking. Say something I don't like so I can call you out on it.

11. I have a funny story about the botched joke.
I was in an office doing a business transaction, and they had FOX News on in the background. When they announced about the botched joke they said something along the lines of "Is John Kerry's campaign for 2008 now dead?" and I wanted to bounce my head off the desk because they turned the TV off after that and I had no idea what happened. Needless to say, about an hour later I was cursing as loud as possible, and one of my conservative friends kept calling demanding I explain what Kerry just said. Not the most fun of days for this Kerry supporter

That was a funny story, although I bet it's funnier in retrospect than it was when it happened, eh. Better times ahead.

14. Yes, I'm looking forward. Not backward.
I obviously still feel a lot of respect, loyalty, and admiration for Senator Kerry. But we have to win in 2008, and I'm all for finding the best nominee possible. They better watch their tongue though. Kerry's botched joke is perfect example of when the media turns on you, they turn on you. And I have no doubt the media will. They've already shown some signs of turning against Hillary, which is scary!!

7. I don't know about the Whoppers...
but I know Bill goes to Wendy's. A bit ago, one of my co-workers went out to lunch in midtown and saw Bill go into and come out of a Wendy's. Imagine working in Wendy;s and finding yourself serving President Clinton...I wonder if they let him jump the line. :)

I remember the Kerry campaign stopping at Wendys on the campaign trail in 2004.

Yeah, and there's a McDonald's right next door...so he chose Wendy's over McDonald's...for whatever that's worth...not much, I know.

Health wise, neither should be an option for the ex President. But it's his guilty pleasure.

25. Edwards Chose Wendys
it was his and Elizabeth's anniversary.

for their first anniversary, they were broke and in the middle of a move, so they ended up eating at Wendy's. Now they've made it a tradition.

Still great to see Kerry and Edwards at Wendys. At that moment in time it humanized them.

I think they're the good ones in this race. Well not that the others aren't good, but they're all four very good. Thanks for the input though. Much appreciated. I have a lot of respect for Senator Feingold. Why didn't he run? I don't remember the reasoning.

Accomplish more as a Senator. Noble reason to not run. Giving up personal ambitions to do the right thing. I like Russ Feingold even more as time goes on :patriot:

15. Yes, Kerry's Libby statement was great..
I loved it when he called Bush out..

It was good of him to say what others could not say, meaning our front-runners.
Hillary stopped just short of calling him an outright Liar with choice wording in her statement.

18. Hey K'08
Did you see this interview General Clark did with a supporter for a feature on his blog? This was the night of the 92nd St Y thing...in the restaurant where Clark met with supporters beforehand....

He gives props to Kerry here:
Reg: Okay. Two more questions. One thing you spoke about in '04 that I didn't hear anyone else talking about was corporate welfare. Can you talk about that a little bit?

General Clark: Well, actually John Kerry talked a little bit about it too, but you know we do have what we call tax expenditures, which is a subsidy or a- it's the equivalent of a subsidy or it's a special deal that comes through the taxation process. And a lot of this goes to big business. In fact, some goes to businesses who are actually off-shoring their jobs, and so they get a special tax subsidy for doing it. That's wrong!

Transcript and video of full interview is here: http://securingamerica.com/ccn/node/11324

23. You already know I love the thought of you...
...and all your enthusiasm on "our" team....

You know, Wes really does respect Senator Kerry too. I saw him speak about John and the campaign and stuff a couple of years ago I guess it was and, even though it was at Kerry's stepson's place so I wouldn't expect Wes to trash Kerry or anything, you could see a deep genuine respect when he spoke of John. I think it was at the 92nd St Y thing that Wes made a point of saying how much better off we'd be with JK in the White House now. I think there was a mutual respect thing going between the two of them there. They both see the world in a similar way.

24. They both are class acts.
I was very torn at times in 2003-2004 between Kerry and Clark. And going into 08', before Kerry announced he wasn't running, I was torn again. I think both represents the best our party has to offer. Very geniune and passionate leaders who realize actions mean louder then words. At times I sincerely wish John would have picked Clark as the VP nominee in 2004. Can't rewrite the past, but it's wishful thinking.

33. Till it happens, that is merely an opinion.
Would you agree we're pretty far out? And wouldn't you agree Edwards and Obama are both making great strides? I think she has a long road before she can even get the nomination. Not to say she can't, because that would be lying. But it won't be a cakewalk when a lot of Democrats, like it or not, are skeptical of her. I admire the fact you're supporting her, and believing in her ability to win. If she wins the nomination, she'll most definitely win!!

27. Still reading, watching, learning as much as possible on their positions ...
I keep coming to GD-P to try to glean more info, but so far all the clap-trap gets in the way. It's kinda hard to get to the meaty discussions when the page is filled w/slash & burn threads attacking each others favs!

I do wish THAT part of GD-P could taper down & that there were MORE threads that explained /extolled the candidate's positive-vote-for-me points. Sometimes when it gets so rabid I give up & close the forum page & go off looking, away from DU, for whatever info I can find. We have some good, solid people in the running & potentially in the running - it's gonna take more than attacks (I HOPE!) to convince people like me to get onboard w/anybody! I need to hear WHY their fav is the one, not why somebody else is -fill in the blank- pond scum!

I'd rather get more of my info on our candidates from fellow DUers ... telling me why I should take a look at their 'guy' instead of why I should NOT look at XYZ. I must admit that there have a few that HAVE posted thoughtful, reasoned posts @ their candidates - & they are the ones that I take the time to slow down & really think about. The frothing, raging, take-no-prisoners posters do their favs no good turns, imho.

If that makes any sense? I know, this is DU ... & we looooves to squabble! :9

I'm a Kerry supporter. I'm still not sure who I'm backing now, yet.

While it seems the race is in full gear, you have plenty of time to decide. We have a great field of candidates, and you have months and months to go through them one by one and pick a candidate. The debates should be very helpful to the undecided!!

Always glad to meet other Kerry supporters.

31. Yeah, plenty of time is why I take the luxury of sometimes just closing the page.
Plus, I'm still hoping a couple other of peeps (Gore & Clark) jump in the race - I guess I'm greedy!

We DO have a bountiful table ... kinda nice to be able to walk the 'aisle' & have so much to select from (though it also makes it hard to choose just one!).

Imagine how bad it would suck to be a repub right about now ... there ain't NO goods worth buying in their supermarket!

Hillary I'll support only if she's the nominee.

Obama still an unknown.

Less enthused by Richardson. Can't picture Kucinich getting anywhere close.

Biden's at the bottom of the list.
