Feingold Statement on Democrats Offering Binding Legislation to End President's Failed Iraq Policy
Statement of U.S. Senator Russ Feingold
On Democrats Offering Binding Legislation to End the President’s Failed Iraq Policy

March 8, 2006

“Senator Reid has worked hard to rally the caucus in support of binding legislation to reject the President’s failed policies in Iraq and require redeployment of most U.S. troops from Iraq. While the legislation doesn’t go as far as I would like, it is a strong step toward ending our involvement in this misguided war. I will continue to push for Congress to use its power of the purse to end our involvement in this war.”

1. Thanks. A good statement.
He says it is a step forward, but that it is not enough.

2. You gotta love Russ Feingold.
He's awfully popular at my house and in our circles of Democrats.

Wisconsin folks are damned lucky to have him representing them in the U.S. Senate.

6. Yep. He's really something. I like the way he used humor to upset
his two primary opponents when he first went for the Senate seat, and I like the true blue heart that beats in him when he's speaking on the floor of the Senate now.

Long may he run.

7. ... those early ads were hilarious!
I was at the U of WI back in those days & remember them well!

Everything he's done, every vote he's cast ... 100% for-the-people progressive.

:applause:

8. Agree. I think he's likely to be around for a long time. People who
loved Paul Wellstone seem to find much of the same principled courage and clarity in Russ Feingold.

Two great people.

9. Keep speaking up and out Senator
It was a big drag when he announced he would not run.

10. "While the legislation doesn’t go as far as I would like, it is a strong step..."
If he thinks so, then that's good enough for me.
