hated more in Iraq.

But he is hated in S.A. I spent the last couple summers in Peru and Ecuador. The first question people ask is where are you from. When I say U.S., the second question is "What do you think of bush". When I said "I think he is horrible", I had instant friends.

80. I know - In mid Nov 2004 , when I first started reporting on "The Stolen Election"
Edited on Fri Mar-09-07 11:32 PM by truedelphi
The Dublin Newspapers were about the ONLY news source that was putting out material that synthesized the facts and the idea that the 2004 election was stolen

I became a great fan of the the Irish news media

They also run some very upsetting pictures of our good service people's
handiwork in Iraq. Including the photo montage of the toddlers who were surrounded by bayoneted GI's after the Americans at a roadblock blew the kids' parents away.

there is nothing like a closeup view of a three year old's darling rose- patterned frock TOTALLY smeared with the parent's blood to get you to see WAR for what it is.

If American media had had the courage that the Irish media had, we would not have taken so long to change our mind on the war here in The States.

75. Without doubt, Bush is the biggest mass murderer of the 21st century
Bush's crimes in Iraq: 1 million dead civilians, 2 million Iraqis in exile, 1.7 million displaced within Iraq. Eight percent of Iraq's population has left the country or are living as refugees in their own country. Proportionally, this is like having 24 million Americans moving to Canada and Mexico, or living in tent cities in the US.

9. Huge crowd, too.
Edited on Fri Mar-09-07 01:25 AM by Contrite
In November 2005 the number of protestors was reported about 150-200.

From the CNN article:

"Riot police fired tear gas and beat some protesters with batons after more than 6,000 people held a largely peaceful march through the financial district. And in the southern city of Porto Alegre, more than 500 people yelled, "Get out, imperialist!" as they burned an effigy of Bush outside a Citigroup Inc. bank branch.

Meanwhile, the police commander of Colombia, which Bush will visit on Sunday, said authorities had thwarted leftist rebel plans to disrupt Bush's visit to Bogota.

"We have taken measures to neutralize them," said Gen. Jorge Daniel Castro, Colombia's highest-ranking police officer.

Also in Colombia, at Bogota's National University, 200 masked students clashed with 300 anti-riot police and shouted "Out, Bush." In Mexico City, about two dozen demonstrators gathered in front of the U.S. Embassy chanting slogans against Bush and the U.S. project to construct border fences."

43. It means 'get out, Bush' from here:
The anger at Bush was palpable at the rally, which closed part of Avenue Paulista, a major thoroughfare lined by tall office buildings in this teeming city of 18 million. "Bush Murderer, We Hate You," read one banner held aloft. Many in the crowd hoisted signs or wore stickers featuring pictures of Bush with an Adolf Hitler-style moustache and the phrase "Fora Bush," or "Get Out Bush," with the "s" in his name replaced by a swastika.

This country is on the wrong track with a terrible godawful president. A picture you seem to show gleefully depresses the hell out of me. You think that if you try to tell them that you voted for the Democrat they're going to care? Maybe, maybe not. This is our COUNTRY being branded this way, and come '09, I hope we can repare the damage.

64. It's good that the world sees Bush (and many of us) for what we are
If everyone was fooled, there would be no chance of fixing it.

Things may or may not be improving now, but for the last six years our country has thoroughly deserved to be branded this way. Close to half of the voters supported this crap twice, approval for a fake war was up around 90% for a while, there still doesn't seem to be appropriate outrage from those who've learned that we killed half a million or more innocent people for no reason at all ... that's just the way it is: We've (collectively) acted like real bastards and they know it.

63. What's With All Those "Watch Bush" Video's on CNN Story
The president and his advisers also hoped his visit would offset the growing influence of leftist leaders, such as Venezuela's Hugo Chavez. (Watch what Bush hopes to gain from the trip Video)

Hadley, Bush's national security adviser, told reporters that instead of worrying about Chavez, Bush was "going to be focusing on those countries and those leaders that have the right model and the right ideas for a better Latin America." (Watch how Bush hopes to take "a message of hope" to Latin America Video)

Bush and Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula de Silva are expected to announce an "ethanol alliance" on Saturday aimed at creating quality standards for the alternative fuel while joining forces to promote more ethanol use in nations lying between Brazil and the United States. 69. Funny how those posters are never mentioned

in the article at cnn.com. They do say protesters carried "communist flags" I wonder if those are "communist flags" or Brazilian flags in the photo. There's one large red banner behind the white banner with the swastika. I wonder if the red "flags" there are really banners that we're seeing from the side.

83. It's sad, really
I knew South Americans wouldn't let "us" down. Alas, "we" cannot organize anything that will generate news.

Unless there are "radicals" who aren't afraid of being arrested for civil disobedience. And, yes, that means throwing rocks and shit.

I love those radicals! Love them!

84. Did you see the video posted on the links I provided? Reminded me of the Chicano Moratorium

On August 29, 1970 thirty thousand antiwar demonstrators marched west along Whittier Boulevard to Laguna Park in East Los Angeles where speeches, music, and poetry readings would culminate in Los Angeles' largest antiwar demonstration. Once the initial speaker left the podium, police attacked the peaceful demonstrators with clubs and gas. That violent day produced three deaths by LAPD, Lyn Ward, a 15-year old child, Angel Diaz, and LA Times reporter Ruben Salazar.
