Obama's NY $100-a-head fundraiser tonight sold out--even after moving to bigger venue

"It's incredible. I can't believe how many New Yorkers are interested in Barack Obama," said Arthur Leopold, who is helping to host the event.

Originally set for the Grand, formerly Au Bar, the $100-a-head fund-raiser aimed at younger people sold out so fast it was moved to one of the giant ballrooms at the Grand Hyatt on 42nd St.

The campaign hopes to cram 2,000 people into the room.

It's the first mass fund-raiser the Illinois senator has held in New York City since announcing his presidential run and the low dollar amount guaranteed excitement.

"People are still trying to get in," Leopold said. "My phone won't stop ringing."

"It's a cash bar and there may be a deejay," said another organizer. "It's pretty bare bones: the Grand Hyatt is not really a sexy venue. He's the sexy addition to the venue. And people are begging to get in."

2. As a New Yorker,

who voted twice for Hillary, I am certainly interested in him. Actually, at this point, I may even give him an edge over Hillary. Hillary's Iraq War vote has always been a sticking point for me and her refusal to admit she was WRONG about it.

My mind is still open.

only $100? Everybody will be there!

I do think it's nice, though, to see candidates holding low-donation fundraisers, since few can afford to pay the thousands required for face time with the candidates.
