Putin's approval rating now 81%
Despite baseless claims that he was responsible for killing a spy in London, Vladimir Putin, has now an approval more than twice that of George W. Bush, according to an independent poll.

1. You Belive That?
This is a man who we suspect kills dissidents.

If key critics of the Bush administration were mysteriously dying or locked up in prison, and some one asked if you approved of him, don't you think you'd say "yes."

Actually, I don't think it's that. Putin isn't killing massive numbers of Russians. He's suspected of killing critical journalists. Imagine if every news channel and paper reported in a way to make Fox News and the Washington Times look liberal. There was no other source of information on Dubya. Of course you'd think he was doing a great job.

2. That polling company used to be owned by the state. It's not now, but
who knows what the deal is with them, really? That's one corrupt country.

Plenty would argue with that "baseless claims" assertion, too.

My problem with this report is that it suggests that Bush is at or near FORTY percent. The figures I've seen have him much lower than that.

4. WHo knows if the number is accurate BUT
at this point the Russians will love anyone that they see as restoring honor or stability to the country. The fall of the USSR has been a complete disaster for them.
