So far, everybody loves Charlie
Gov. Charlie Crist invokes Robert F. Kennedy and channels Al Gore on global warming. He embraces paper trails for voting machines.

Florida's most powerful Republican pays homage to the teachers union and speaks so passionately about civil rights that one legislator dubbed him "Florida's first black governor."

What's a Democrat to do?

"Gov. Crist is a political nightmare for the Democrats," said state Senate Democratic Leader Steve Geller. "How do we run against somebody who whenever we come up with a good idea, he goes, 'Hey that's a good idea, let's do that.'

We run against Crist with the spectre of him makning a sharpt right turn when he comes into office--just like Bush and Schwarzenegger did. The very fact that he's a Republican makes it impossible for him to trust him completely. If I were him, I'd be an anti-Jeb, too.

3. Crist is a great governor
He has proven to be a man worthy of the respect of all Floridians.

4. Really?
I'm sure you know more about it than I do. But I can't help but be curious: what exactly makes him a republic?

5. That's a question I can't honestly answer
I voted against him, because I didn't want 4 more years of Jebshit down here.

Now, the guy has done exactly what I expected Davis to do, or even more. Fighting against insurance companies, voting rights for those who have paid their dues to society, looking for ways to repeal or at least reduce the property taxes, looking over the electionary process down here, oppossing a gay marriage-ban vote on the next elections... in a few months, Crist has delivered the goods.

Let's hope there is no "real Crist" waiting to appear.

6. Lowering property tax is one thing. However, if Crist and the legislature
do it the way they have proposed by increasing the sales tax to 8.5 percent, then the poor people get hit first... and I'm willing to bet big time that the rents of those who do not own will not come down.

And the local governments will be screwed big time. Local governments get most of their revenue from property taxes. That means money for fire protection, police, infrastructure needs, schools, etc.

Are you willing to accept what Tallahassee doles out to the county and city governments from the sales tax? I doubt they will have much left over after they pay for their little pets.

I like a lot of what Charlie had done so far, but it hasn't been all that substantive yet. I'm waiting for the follow through and the results before making any judgement.
