4. His closing arguments were straight from the RW Fox News...weren't they.
It was disappointing because otherwise it was a good show he did with Schumer and Specter. Then he drops that load of lies that Plame wasn't Classified by mudding the water with she wasn't covert and confusing the issue of Fitz being a "Special Prosecutor" not an Indpendent Counsel like Starr was and Schieffer complains that millions of taxpayer dollars wasted again on a prosecutor who is allowed to go on for years and and have unlimited powers.. Then he repeats the lie that "no crime was uncovered" and that everyone knew Armitage was the leaker and that the Niger Yellow cake news was wrong (never acknowleging Joe Wilson's part in proving that) ....It was disgusting. Like he read from the script.

8. I was concerned about that too, but I think he didn't say quite that.
What he said I think was that with all that momey spent the US taxpayers deserved to know unequivocally whether or not Plame was classified, whether or not somebody in the administration leaked the name, etc.

And it's a pretty good point. I agree that Schieffer muddied the waters and sort of supported the contention that the RW-ers constantly make that Plame wasn't classified and she sent Wilson to Niger, that Wilson lied, etc. etc. But Schieffer's also right that after all that money, Fitz himself should have stated what was well understood in the trial, i.e., that Plame was indeed classified and that the leaker was undoubtedly somebody in the admimistration, not some fall guy like LIbby or some dupe like Armitage supposedly saying something he wasn't supposed to be saying and that nobody else in the WH was trying like hell to leak and succeeded in leaking.

I wish Fitz had said this. Once his case was over, he no longer is bound to stick to the strict bounds of the trial, i.e., just showing that Libby lied under oath. Fits has an obligaion to the American people as well.

9. Fitz DID say that. In his press conference after the verdict...."She was Classified"
Edited on Sun Mar-11-07 10:49 AM by KoKo01
Schieffer muddied the water by not mentioning that it was the CIA who brought the investigation to the FBI because they were defending one of their own Classified Employees. And, Schieffer left out that the Wilsons have a Civil Suit going. Very convenient for him to not note that for the Sunday audience who is not as Internet Savvy as folks here who've followed every detail.

2. As a member of the Hispanic community, let me just say that Gonzalez
Edited on Sun Mar-11-07 10:11 AM by The Backlash Cometh
has shamed us. Even though the majority of us do not share his politics, he was selected (read used) because his minority status gave him cover. I don't want to even begin to conjecture how many minority members in this country reach the conclusion that bending the rules is the road to success. But unfortunately, that seems to be the clear message, if you're honest about how many people get rich in this country.

6. I was disappointed with the Libby remarks at the end but enjoyed
hearing Schumer calling for Abu's head.

Gonzales is a disgrace.

It's time pressure was brought to bear to force his resignation.
