I kinda like Giuliani a little
Edited on Mon Mar-12-07 10:18 PM by antiimperialist
I don't want Giuliani or any Republican to become president in '08, but seeing this video put together by Giuliani's opponents makes u sympathize for the guy a little. If a Republican wins, God forbid, let it be the lesser of their evils: Rudy Giuliani.

3. I had a friend who used to work with him
And knew him fairly well personally. He has nothing good to say about him.

4. What you don't realize is that he isn't a lesser evil
The LAST thing you want is a Giuliani Presidency.

5. The more you know about him, the more your feelings turn..
toward despising him. New Yorkers liked him at first, but by the time his last term was coming to an end, we hated the phony asswipe. Were it not for 9/11, he would by now be a complete non-entity.

And as we learn more a bout his failures that led to unnecessary deaths on 9/11 and since then, he will become much less attractive.

7. Giuliani is a problem, that's for sure....
Edited on Mon Mar-12-07 10:32 PM by Bicoastal
He at least CLAIMS to be pro-choice, pro-gay rights, and pro-gun control. Democratic challengers can point out inconsistencies in his record, but these three attributes are issues we obviously cannot find fault with. We all assume that the "base" would stand their ground against his nomination, but frankly, I think the base isn't nearly as powerful as it used to be. If moderates dominate the Republican party in 2008, he will be a formidable adversary indeed.

The chink in Rudy's armour? His stance on the Iraq war. Despite being pro-everything else, Rudy was also pro-surge, and this underlines his poor grasp of international affairs and global issues--which is arguably more important than any other single political attribute these days.

'Course, Bush is a moron when it comes to world politics, and the US "elected" him twice.

8. Honestly, I don't know if Rudy has ANY idea what to do with the war
or with foreign policy in general. He will just spout platitudes like our Decider and then wait for his instructions: Mr. President, sign here, here, and here.

9. Guiliani may be moderate on some issues
as well as less ideological than the other candidates. He certainly is a smart and skilled leader. I must admit, as a New Yorker, I'm much more inclined to have to deal with a blunt, sometimes rude fellow New Yorker who "gets the job done," than some fake, slow talking cowboy with a toy ranch and prop religion. However, Guiliani has Bush's fascist tendencies with a brain to implement them. He also appeals to many moderate Democrats and even liberals, and therefore, his police state like attitude would probably get much more favor than Bush's. What he lacks in right-wing conservatism he will make up for in his ego and sometimes anti-democratic attitude. Looking at the guys personal life, he can't be too good of a person.

10. I'll never forget how Giuliani stood up there at the RNC & made fun of our candidates
in as arrogant a style as ever seen. Then he proceeded to kiss Bush's ass like nobody I've ever heard before.

Giuliani makes me :puke:

want them running the country either.

17. You're more charitable than I am with Giuliani.
To me, he's one of the most repulsive human beings who ever walked down the street.

Can you imagine the Kerick-like goons he'd appoint to judicial seats?

18. I do not, but I darkly suspect he will be the next president.
He just has that Reagan thing going for him - I have seen this before. The masses will vote for him because they will LIKE him; nevermind the issues or his personal history - they don't care. He could beat anyone except President Gore, I think.

19. Yes, the typical "who would you rather have a beer with" choice
Americans are stupid sometimes when it comes to electing an official.

20. That is a KEY test!
We Dems must understand that: Who would you rather have a beer with? I am convinced that it helped GWB get close enough both times to steal the elections. We tend to assume that all voters analyze elections the way we do - WRONG! There are millions who can not tell you the names of their Senators or Congressperson or governor, but they wake up just after the World Series is over and think that to be patriotic they must go vote. And the Beer-With Test is one of their prime analytical tools.

Think about it: of our candidates, which would you be more confortable having a beer with?? Then, how about a glass of wine? You will get different answers there. It matters!

21. Whenever I think of Giuliani...
I think of "Giuliani time." When NYPD officer Justin Volpe was anally raping Abner Louima with a plunger after arresting him, he reportedly shouted "It's Giuliani time!" before shoving the end of the stick into Louima's mouth. That's what Giuliani did for the poor and black in New York, so I'd hate to see the results of "Giuliani time" for the entire country.
