Libby's perjury (or "perjury," as Wingnuts call it) isn't a big deal because the investigation itself was an exercise in futility. Bob Novak said as much on his recent appearance on Charlie Rose. According to Novak, DOJ already knew who the leak was because Novak told them, so no investigation was necessary. Therefore, since the investigation wasn't necessary, then lying while striving to disrupt/forestall/derail that investigation is no crime.
And Gingrich's adultery isn't on the same scale as Clinton's because, because Clinton had a history of womanizing, and he perjured himself during an investigation of sexual misconduct, and for heaven's sake the poor intern was little more than a girl! And Gingrich's first duty was to ferret out the truth before The American People, and in any case he wasn't or shouldn't have been the one under scrutiny. After all, didn't Clinton bomb Bosnia to distract from Monicagate? How can such a man, nay a monster, be permitted to retain the highest office in the land?
Of course, that's how I've been reading their playbook, so I may be wrong. But I'll say this: once you depart from reality and leap headlong into crazed Wingnuttery, it gets easier and easier to expostulate about pretty much anything. I guess that's how Limbaugh as stayed on air all these bloated years.
