The era of the Scarlet A in politics seems so long ago, especially today, as the three top candidates for the Republican presidential nomination are confessed violators of the commandment, yet their sins are relegated to surprisingly low positions in news stories about their prospects.

The article doesn't go far enough in outlining IOKYAR here. I could go with "draft dodging vs AWOL" or "not inhaling vs cocaine".
But they've got an amazing crop this year! Character counts, non?

Dems need to resign/humiliate themselves in perpetuity for "not inhaling" - but they get to say "I decided to move forward" and "I am not a hypocrite" (which ALWAYS means one is)

3. Does anyone know if the General has kept up the Pace?

Last night, while driving home, I happen to hear Sean Hannity on the radio, and he was justifying his divorce, and seemed to be blaming it on his wife's adultery(?). Some caller was giving him some static about his relationship to the church.(Catholic?, I suppose.) Does anyone know anything about his circumstances?

5. We need a new Defense of Marital Fidelity Act...

...barring anyone from the Presidency who

a) has married again after a prior marriage has been ended by divorce (the spouse of that previous marriage still being alive) and

b) cannot pass a polygraph test stating that they have been faithful to their wife throughout the time of their marriage.

Otherwise, we're just encouraging the destruction of marriage in this country. Because, of course, ordinary people in happy, solid marriages will, upon seeing that adultery is now acceptable, find themselves forced by peer pressure to cheat on their spouse.

Unless we take firm action, this will result in the downfall of our country.

Let me be clear -- I have no problem with those who adopt the adulterous lifestyle, as long as they keep it to themselves. But, by flaunting it (and demanding "special rights" such as the right to be taken seriously as presidential contenders despite their personal lives), they are forcing their lifestyle upon us, and exposing our innocent children to it. And that is something no normal person who believes in standards of right and wrong can be expected to tolerate.
