GOPer: "Congress Was Lied To"
By Paul Kiel - March 15, 2007, 8:33 AM

I don't think this counts as an outright call for resignation -- put it in the growing number of Republican "I'm on my last nerve" statements -- but at least it's straightforward:

U.S. Rep. Darrell Issa said Wednesday he was "outraged" that executive branch officials recently gave a congressional hearing misleading and inaccurate testimony based on information that both the Department of Justice and the White House knew to be untrue.

"We can soft-pedal it a lot of ways, but Congress was lied to," Issa, R-Vista, said in a Wednesday phone interview from his Washington office....

He said that if Attorney General Alberto Gonzales had any role in false information being given to Congress, "he should not be able to continue in his job."

darrel issa. What a schmuck. He's the guy who got the Recall Gray Davis campaign off and running, sinking a whole bunch of his own money into it, presumably so HE could run to unseat Davis, only to have it snatched from him and given to Ahnold. And remember how he cried like a fussy infant while having to withdraw his candidacy publicly? JEEZ...

You know it's gotta be beyond devious for this asshole to start denouncing this shit. Maybe he's just trying to get out ahead of a bad story (that may wind up endangering his career in some way, hmmmmmmmmm? Just sayin'...)

Poor alberto. Can't get no sympathy...

4. This has been a fear of mine for the longest time....
someone from the GOP will be first to say Bush out and out lied to get his war.

I'm sick of dems saying impeachment is off the table.

Any republican who is willing to go against the administration, will be our next president. Voters will see dems as being "weak" again...and the GOP will win with fresh blood. :(

6. I haven't been afraid that the GOP would be first to say Bush Lied abt Iraq
Edited on Thu Mar-15-07 12:40 PM by kenny blankenship
But maybe I should be. This example from AG-gate of Repukes beating Democrats to microphones to report that we have a congenital liar in the White House shows that it can happen.

I just don't get why the Democrats are so cowardly on this point (wrt Iraq). He lied. The whole damn country knows he lied and they need their leaders to articulate this and act accordingly. Just say it already!

9. I wish the whole country knew he lied...
This morning there was a debate on the View. Rosie's always on the "left" and Elizabeth's on the "right". It seemed like each got equal support from the audience.

10. Another use of the past exonerative?
If "Congress was lied to," Crybaby Issa, that means that someone must have lied, right? But you're just too much of a Republican to go all the way and name the liar, aren't you? The Elephant may be dazed, its wings damaged, but it still flies above the Eagle.
