15. If she wasn't covert and her "outing" was no big deal, why did the CIA
complain to the DoJ??

Did the CIA not know that she was just a desk jockey and nobody important?? ROFLMAO on this one.

10. How incredibly sad
that congress has to hold a committee meeting with witnesses sworn in to tell what the real patriots in America have known for years. Construction of the gallows should begin immediately.

Edited on Fri Mar-16-07 10:15 AM by still_one
that the opposite point of view is being heard and that is good

However, I also predict that the republican talking points will now shift blame to armatage(sic), and not the administration

ignoring the fact, that the administration were up to their neck in it, not only in propagating it, but also confirming armatage's leak

12. My point you responded to, truncated my full text, which I corrected
and should have been:

"If nothing else, this is loud and clear from these hearings
Edited on Fri Mar-16-07 08:15 AM by still_one
that the opposite point of view is being heard and that is good"

No way was I referring the fact that davis was not a jerk, and I certainly did not want it to come out that way

appreciate your response

20. Does that apply to the agents
involved in extraordinary rendition?

Or the al-Masri kidnapping CIA folk?

Just curious.

18. She worked for the "CIA," the "CIA," the "CIA." What difference does it make whether she was covert
Edited on Fri Mar-16-07 11:09 AM by NDP
She worked for the CIA. The Bush administration went after someone who was working on a national security mission with the "CIA." It doesn't matter whether or not she was "covert." People focusing on that miss the point. The White House went after a member of the CIA who was in the field.

Besides, the fact that they had to "leak" her name is all the proof that you needed that it was not supposed to be "public."

22. It matters in at least one way.
If shes covert, as defined by law, then when her identitiy was revealed there was the possibily that the law covering covert agents was violated. "Covert" doesn't apply to all CIA folk by any means; revealing their identities violates a regulation.

As it is, there's still no evidence the law dealing with revealing covert agents' identities was violated.

26. What does the CIA mean to the United States? It doesn't matter. The "White House" compromised
the security of the United States, and did so intentionally. Regardless of whether she was covert or not, the White House ruinied that assignment, and commited high crimes and misdemeanors in the process. This is the "CIA" we are talking about, not the YMCA.

21. Not only was she covert, but she
SERVED outside the US on "SECRECT MISSIONS" in a covert capacity, WITHIN 5 YEARS PRIOR TO HER OUTING, which DOES, in fact, cover her under the Intelligence Identities Protection Act.

23. Notice Rep Davis (R) spin -- "She was covert. BUT THE WHITE HOUSE DIDN'T KNOW!!!!"
that's an approximate quote, of course. And that, because the White House allegedly didn't know she was covert, her leak was the CIA's fault.

because she was covert then anytime her name was mentioned in an official document it'd note her status.
