Yesterdays diary covered the story of Kearny NJ, High School student Matt LaCLair recording his history teachers Dominionist sermon during the first week of school back in Spetmeber '06. In a meeting with the Principal, David Paszkiewicz, the teacher, denied making the statements Matt had accused him of, Matt then produced audio CD's for all concerned. Later the teacher denied what happened at that meeting, only to have another audio recording released, showing the teacher lied, twice. More recently a few letters to the local paper claimed that David Paszkiewicz had been proselytizing in public School for years. I found one here and another here
How did it come to this? And what is the solution?
Because if they are in the schools in New Jersey, a fairly blue state, they are EVERYWHERE.I think the immediate solution lies in Howard Deans 50 State Plan. To oppose the rightwingers in every race.
And in this case that means running progressives for School Board... NOW.These Creationists and Dominionists are ruining the minds of school children in probably every district in America. If you have kids, and have any interest in preparing your kids for the life ahead, please consider being a candidate for School Board. But let me backtrack a bit.
My Parents got thru the Depression with a progressive income tax, we won WW2 with a progressive income tax. The 12 million men & woman that served in the military in WW2 came home, the GI Bill sent vets to college, and they started families. This created the largest, most vigorous and the best educated middle class, in the history of the planet. Labor unions were at the zenith of their power,
our eductaional institutions were the envy of the world, corporations made money, the wealthiest made money. The American Dream was born. If Americas Schools weren't broken why did they get fixed?

I have to ask, if there was a guy walking around your town saying
"Chidren are the prize to the winners"Wouldn't you be nervous? Well this has been going on for over 20 years. And if you aren't nervous you ought to be, in fact you ought to be scared. You should be scared for you kids, the kids next door, every damn kid on the planet.

The Wedge strategy called for publication of 30 books by 2003,I call upon the Kearny NJ School Board to sever their relationship with the teacher, David Paszkiewicz. As a Youth Pastor Mr. Paszkiewicz may have spent over a decade ingratiating himself with the communities youth, while indoctrinating the same youth with Creationism, and very likely Dominionism. Is the next step a class on how the Universe rotates around the Earth, or a class on how humans can bring on the Rapture?
Frankly I see Mr. Paszkiewicz as an unstable man who should have no contact with any youth in public school. But thats just my opinion. Mr. Paszkiewicz is apparently fine with all of this, because, as John Belushi said in the Blues Brothers movie, he is "on a mission from God".
Meanwwhile back in NJ, the LaClairs have filed court papers reserving the right to sue at a later date, pro forma stuff. I am trying to find out who is running for school board, against the incumbants, so I can offer them my services. I have a wee bit of campaign experience, and I'd love to get into a local race and put a notch in my belt.
