Elizabeth Kucinich Promotes Peace in Europe

HEIDELBERG, Germany, March 16 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Elizabeth Kucinich, wife of Ohio Congressman and Democratic Presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich, took some time away from attending the winter meeting of Democrats Abroad Friday to meet with U.S. troops recuperating from injuries suffered in Iraq.

Mrs. Kucinich, accompanied by Christina Kraich-Rogers, a German native who now works as the New Hampshire coordinator for the Kucinich for President campaign, toured the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center to show her support for the troops. She said meeting with the young men and women strengthened her resolve to see peace brought to the Middle East.


"We are sacrificing our nation's future to pay for war, we are leaving young lives irreversibly broken," Mrs. Kucinich said, "Our young men and women - and the Iraqi people as well - deserve better. There has to be a more creative way, a diplomatic way, to resolve these conflicts."

On Saturday Mrs. Kucinich will participate in two peace events, a rally and a vigil, both held at Bismarck Platz. She will also address the Democrats Abroad meeting and attend other functions in connection with the meeting.

On Monday she will join Congressman Kucinich at meetings in Paris and London dealing with ending the conflict in Iraq. And on Tuesday the Kuciniches will attend a large peace rally at Westminster in London, at which Rep. Kucinich and several members of Parliament are scheduled to speak.
