With the issue of global warming becoming prevalent, John Edwards went on the offensive last week.
He pledged his campaign will purchase cardon offsets, or credits sold by people who have reduced their cardon dioxide output. Edwards spoke of creating a national ceiling on carbon dioxide emissions, and that the U.S. should also invest in alternative forms of energy. The former North Carolina senator cited America as creating 4 percent of the world’s pollution and one-fourth of its greenhouse gas emissions. “We are not a good example for the world, we need to start cleaning up our own house,” Edwards said speaking to a college crowd in Greensboro, N.C.
