I hope Newt Gingrich runs for President
"With the actual voting still a long way into the future, more than half of the American electorate has already made up its mind about who they won’t be casting ballots for in 2008 – 53% said they would never vote for Newt Gingrich, even as the Georgia firebrand continues to mull a jump into the field of Republican presidential candidates, a new Zogby International telephone poll shows."

(snip - Romney would be pretty good for us too)

"39% said they wouldn’t vote for Mitt Romney, while 32% would never vote for John McCain and 31% for Rudy Giuliani. Among Republicans, 20% said they would never help Giuliani win the presidency, while 24% felt the same about McCain and 34% about Romney."

1. Be careful what you wish for. I live in Ga.and You should NEVER
underestimate Newt! I would never vote for him because I know his style too well, but the guy is a very good speaker, and he has the charisma to convince a LOT of people that he's GREAT! Don't trust him EVER, but NEVER underestimate his abilities either!

5. I'm from his area
And I know that the sheltered yuppieville that West Cobb has become is in love with anyone like them, including him (hypocrisy on sex and all), but I'll do everything in my power to let the rest of the country know, that isn't multimillionaires like this area, about his true aims.

7. Yeah, but who would be easier for us to beat?
Certainly not Dame Rudy and Weathervane McCain. Despite being warmongers, they poll pretty well. Dame Rudy was even beating Hillary in polls from blue states like PA and NJ.

3. Those numbers are promising, but I don't think we can
count him out. Unlike the Chimp, he's a great speaker and much unlike the Chimp he's not a dumb ass. With the right backing, the kind the Chimp got, Newt could get close.

6. I have the same thoughts on Newt as I did for Sam Brownback -
Hopefully, the smear-meisters and 527 groups on the Democratic side are able to easily make Newt look like the sociopath that he is, but God help us if he actually gets elected (or pretend-elected like Bush...)

8. We as Dems seem to think
that if the 'Pugs get excited and rally around someone, then it hurts our chances to win. Not necessarily true. The reason they may love Newt--or Duncan Hunter, or their new boyfriend, "Huckleberry Hound" Thompson--is because of these candidates' conservatism and their support for Shrub's War of Terror--exactly the reason Dems won't cross over to vote for them, I believe. They are torn about Roody, which is why Roody is formidable in the general. In an alternate universe, were they to suddenly embrace Hagel, we'd be in real trouble. But the guys they are excited about are also the guys less likely to appeal to Dems. Independents, I don't know--depends on how they feel about endless war.
