He can pull "executive privilege" to withhold any evidence or block any supoenas that he wants. This will be contested, of course, which means it will have to be decided by the Supreme Court. To go through all the hoops needed before getting to the SC will take time. Particularly with Bush blocking everything he can.
And once it gets to the SC, there's no guarantee that his people up there will decide against him. Even if they do, that just puts us back to starting the investigations again. Even with the evidence it will take even more time to convice enough criminal GOP senators to go along with what's right.
All this fiddling around has to happen before any real decisions can be justified for impeachment. I expect we will be watching all this for the next two years but by then Bush will be able to "honorably" leave office . Also once he leaves office the focus will have to change to new criminal trials and the public concern over their past wrongs will be considerably less.
Bush and his minions are so horribly criminal that they may easily live a long and happy life after all this.
I just can't get my hopes up that anyone of importance will be forced to atone for these crimes in any serious way.
Crime can pay, it seems. At least in America.
