Take hope, Clarkies! Proof of netroots influence.

If you listen to MSM, there is only Hillary, Obama, Edwards. You'd think no one else has a ghost of a chance. At the grassroots level we know better. And our influence is getting stronger and stronger. I just read an LA Times article entitled "Blogs can top the presses" about Josh Marshall and his Talking Points Memo (www.talkingpointsmemo.com). About how his reporting blew open the US Attorney firing scandal, Bush's Social Security plans, Abramoff, and others, all where the MSM was falling down (or just sucking up to their corporate/GOP masters). A really key comment in the article was that "The relatively small world of left-of-center political blogs now receives an estimated 160 million page views a month, in the same ballpark as some major newspapers and far more than any opinion magazine."
My point here is that when Wes Clark announces his candidacy, the strong support he enjoys in places like DU will provide for an outpouring of fundraising and communication (among Dem primary voters, at least). MSM will be forced to take notice, and Clark's American hero/American dream story will reach the nation. President Clark has a really nice ring, doesn't it?

1. I'm not worried

at all, but thanks for the encouraging words and info, xkenx! :hi:

Having followed General Clark since first hearing of him in 2003, I have nothing but confidence and trust in the man. He is a master strategist and if he deems it is too late, or doesn't think he would be able to raise enough cash to be a contender, he won't run.

The one thing I do worry about a little is that Corporate Press is influencing even the netroots with their targeted focus on Clinton, Obama and to a much lesser extent, Edwards. The others, in Corpress world barely even exist! So YES, if/when Clark enters, it will be up to US to get his message out there. I have no doubt Corpress will continue to focus exclusively on the candidates they've already chosen.

4. I don't think Clark's that great of a political strategist

but he will be a formidable candidate if he enters. As a politician and candidate, I think he is still unproven and it might not be enough to win the primary. Even if he enters and wins Iowa and NH, the new super Tuesday roster will benefit those with a lot of money for get out the vote and commercials. If Clark enters late, he will be very short on money.
There will not be enough time after NH to raise the money needed to compete on Super Tuesday.

However, I just read some good news for the Dem Nominee, that he or she would have a greater chance at winning the General Election because as history has indicated, that the US population rarely votes for the same party after 8 years.
I think the majority of Americans want a significant change after 8 years of republican rule. This bodes very well for whoever the Dem Nominee is, and while it is important to send a capable candidate, it is also just as important that we send a candidate that won't Lose the election.
