unlike some people, even as demonstrated here, I have the ability to focus on more than one thing at a time.

and, quite frankly, in view of the fact that the reason for the hearing was the illegal, treasonous actions of der chimpenfuhrer and his cabal, I think it was a perfect place to wear an "impeach bush" t-shirt, and to have the whole nation see it.

in the collective consciousness, there is a point called "critical mass" at which point an idea will be a part of the larger collective consciousness. there has to be a lot of exposure for that idea to reach that point--whether that exposure is subliminal or otherwise. I am all for anything which will get the "impeach that bastard" message into the collective consciousness.

and I'll challenge you to match me for hours spent out in the rain and snow and hot sun working against this administration and the war...just don't talk to me about pink goddamned tiaras and "do it yourself" if you have ever canvassed every goddamned door in a poor town trying to get voters out you would know that you don't do it in a pink tiara...What is so brave about walking into a Congressional hearing room in a pink tiara? Try a lit table in a hostile town with people in your face all day threatening you with bodily harm...just tell what you've done lately.

16. But I wouldn't. Because that sort of stunt is immature, and turns off people who are

adult in the conduct of their daily life. If I did that sort of thing, my family would take me to the hospital for an MRI because surely I'd be suffering with a brain tumour.

A stunt like that says "Look at MEEEEEEE!" not "Pay attention to the serious issue of the death toll in the Iraq War." No one is talking about the message on that assclown's shirt. They're just saying what a jerkwad performance it was....except for a few fringe acolytes, who were already part of the cheering section anyway.

No hearts or minds were changed by that lunacy. No one was educated, either. The story was simply "An IDIOT in PINK created a HUMILIATING, embarrassing display behind Valerie Plame." I've also heard "Was that a guy or a girl?" and "Was that a Republican or Democratic stunt?" The latter was a result of the gratuitous nodding, the finger wagging, and the stupid facial expressions--my neighbor (an involved Democrat in the region) swore it was a Republican, making fun of Mrs. Wilson. When I disabused him of that idea, he was in despair.

It has brought about a bit of bipartisan accord in one respect, though. Regardless of party, most people thought the protester looked like a complete and total fool.

was that he believed it was a GOP Freeper-type guy making FUN of Code Pink to disrupt the Plame hearings.

The intentions may have been sincere, but the execution totally sucked.

5. Amen. One of my pastimes is putting "Impeach Bush" signs up in unique places.

Nowadays they last a lot longer than they used to. 'Course I'm putting some of them in harder to reach spots that I used to, too.

I think if only 1 in every 10 Democrats across this country took time to put up an Impeach Bush sign somewhere, the reality of impeachment would eventually set in and happen.

6. I believe that good people can make mistakes

Even here at DU we aren't supposed to hijack threads. Hijacking Ms. Plame's first time testifying at a Congressional hearing was a mistake, in my opinion. A mistake by a good person whose heart was in the right place even if her tiara wasn't.

And unlike some other folks, I don't pretend to know what every person in the United States thinks about a given activity. I figure I'll do my own thing, like I did yesterday, and someone else should act as they feel led. I strongly suspect that not everyone will have the same reaction to the sign I carried, nor do I think everyone will have the same reaction to someone from Code Pink.

But I'm very glad they're doing what they're doing, and I'm more than happy to keep doing what I'm doing. I decline to take responsibility for the reactions of onlookers, some of which I consider nutty in the extreme, even nuttier than they proclaim the original activity that sent them off their nut in the first place.
