Unity08? Don't make me laugh...
So the folks at Unity08 want us to get in bed with the Republicans and embrace a bi-partisan ticket for 2008 - one side gets the Oval Office, the other side gets the VP's quarters. Lovely. Yet another political movement for the neo-cons to infiltrate and use to siphon away the more spineless among us.

And besides, if I remember my history lessons right, the last time we tried some sort of "National Union" ticket, the Democratic President got himself impeached. No, thank you.

1. Nope not interested
the rethug view of 'bipartisanship' is Dems doing what they are told by the rethugs. Why oh why would any Dem have an interest in that.
for me, unity08 should be throwing the thieving lying bastards out and restoring America. And investigating their transgressions!

3. Just what I always wanted
a one party fascist state rather than a two party fascist state. The sad thing is, I can see about 1/3 of the Democratic Party elected officials getting behind this. Lieberman, Hillary, Pryor, Feinstein and others would drool at the chance to get on their knees in front of another right-wing nut job.

4. I Find It Intriguing
and it's not all neo-con - they list global climate change as a "crucial" issue.

Of course, it ignores the importance of Supreme Court nominees, which I just can't do.

This does sound like the kind of thing Joe Lieberman would like. I have to wonder if Chuck Hagel wouldn't like it too. Not Hillary or John McCain, they are already after their party's nomination. Michael Bloomberg might go unity.

5. It's based on the false pretense that the Democratic Party is too liberal these days

The Republic Party is definitely more extreme than they used to be, but compared to where we were in the 60's and 70's the Democrats are far more moderate.
