2. It probably is
in the short run. And as Senator Biden would ask, then what?? Short term gains is all we are seeing. And wow, send more troops??? Isn't that what a four star general told bush in 2002? The senior officer in the Army with 30+ years experience. No bush had to listen to wolfowitz and perle. They had a great plan huh?

talking point from the * administration. There, of course, is no way of determining this to be true or not. I think it would be worthwhile finding a site that documents the bombings and deaths throughout Iraq and see if there are really any significant differences.

6. The MSM is saying the Surge is working?
Well, that means, of course, that it is not. What more proof do we need?

7. Fauxnews Covering The 4th Anniversary A Lot Less Often Than CNN Or MSNBC
Between 6am and 3pm, a TVEyes search of closed captioning transcripts shows 153 mentions of Iraq on MSNBC, 112 mentions on CNN, and 42 mentions on Fox News Channel

http://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser/

Funny, when they are supposed to be carrying water for Bush's lie, FauxNews is falling down on the job. Faux must still be upset about be called biased.

8. F*X just doesn't want to remind people

how long the "over-in-six-weeks, six-months-tops" war has lasted or how we were not greeted as liberators, showered with flowers and candy.

9. i hope it does work - i would like the violence to decrease.
the shiia retaliation killings are largely stopped but will resume as soon as moqtada says.

the sunni insurgents are using up their bombs as fast as they can - anticipating that the factories will be found out. but, if i was a general planning strategy as this point i'd do what the US is doing.

in the long run, this will not work without the cooperation of syria & iran, and direct negotiations with the sunni insurgency. they must be brought into the political process, and there must be a wedge driven between them & the "al queda" jihadis.

either that, which involves swallowing our pride to ask for help from the axis of evil, or withdraw in defeat, which involves humiliation & shame, and the end of our hegemony. bush won't do that, so the bitter pill will be left to President Obama, and he'll be forever tarred with it.

bottom line: we will not pacify iraq through violence. we will depopulate it, which serves our interests just as well.

11. It's mostly MSNBC doing it.
Scarborough was spinning it cautiously, Tucker less so. It will be interesting to so how KO treats this tonight.

CNN isn't doing it. Jack Cafferty is presently blasting the living shit out of the war. You go, Jack!!! :D
