1. Olbermann just played it
Not creative. Clumsy, overly slick in a negative and overt way (subliminal hammer). You Tube vids of "Jolson for Obama" would that be creative?

2. Not creative but pretty memorable.
A sledge hammer through her face.

5. I favor Obama and I don't think I like it
because it's kinda negative, although I think it's well done and entertaining. Not the kind of message I would like to convey about my candidate, though.

11. That was well said
I think StClone is right. This is some RWers at work. They just could not resist uglifying Mrs. Clinton and they gave themselves away.

3. Yes
Sadly, it leaves a lasting mental picture. Hillary is unlikely to win even without the "hammer in face" U-2ub vid. I am willing to bet this is a present from GOP Swiftboaters. As always, it is working. Taking down Hill and maybe tainting Obama. Bravo.

12. Well, someone had some professional help.
This is no amateur video.

14. The Apple ad was professionally made. An amateur certainly could have doctored it.
It could have been made by an Obama supporter, a Clinton hater, and/or a republican operative. But it wouldn't be difficult for somebody with an iMac and a video editing program to take the existing Apple ad, superimpose Clinton's face over the original face and add a new soundtrack.

15. What parts of it were changed?
I didn't see the original. Was it only putting in a new soundtrack and putting Hill's face up?

Was the female athlete with the hammer there already?

16. Yes. Here is the original
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OYecfV3ubP8

The only things that were changed were the face on the screen (originally an old man), the soundtrack, and the logo superimposed at the end.

If you hadn't seen the original, I can see how it would look like a professional must have made it. Whoever did do it did a good job with the video equivalent of photoshop. But it really could have been anybody from the creative director of the RNC's ad agency to a high school kid.

10. I saw it on Olbermann. It was just great!
The reality, as discussed on Keith's show, is that political campaigns can no longer control the message. Anyone can put a political hit piece on YouTube, and there is nothing anyone can do about it.

We can expect similar attack ads against everyone that is running from both parties.

Freedom is great, isn't it? This is the price that we must be willing to pay if we want government to stay out of controlling the message. Remember that it was Bill Clinton's Communications Act that led to media concentration, and to the dismal crap that passes for news nowadays.

6. Been nice to have a video like this,
for Georgie boy during the 2004 election. I'd like to see the best shots took in 2008.

7. I thought it was nicely done.
Without succumbing to the emotional overtones and taking sides in this like a candidate-based issue, I think the ad itself was powerful and nicely produced.

8. "A generational howl." I love this ad.
Edited on Mon Mar-19-07 11:45 PM by Clarkie1
I'm Obama's generation, and Clinton is definitely the "big brother" of the Democratic field....or sister, whatever as the case may be. Big money, big corporation...think different and break through the business as usual, it's a great and apt analogy.

As I type this on my ibook....:-)

9. Right wingers don't for the most part even understand 1984
let alone apple.

I thought it was revolutionary
as was the first apple commercial
and done professionally
which would exclude it coming from the right

It is how I feel about her, more of the same shit, " words" with no meaning.
the message was clear and too clever that came out of the video.

Many of us feel she is like that on the LEFT

I thought the video rocked, and many feel that.
It was more powerful than
any right wing think tank could think of.

The web gives you the freedom to not allow them to control the message,
as do our freedom to use technology which she hasn't done teaming up with
Lieberman and General Motors and the war industries.

If it came from the right as some have implied, so be it, though I really doubt it
The message was sent to many that she is from the age of
meaningless slogans as they pointed out from her speech.

The world wants change and not the same old slogans or rhetoric.
that speech they used were her own words from her own speech which were
her talking point advisors slogans of her times.

It put her speech into perspective
for many.

17. Specifically, what fingerprints do you speak of?
Or are you generalizing?

The fact is a huge portion of democrats and progressives are tired of the old politics--no, desperately angry with the old brand of political talk that has delivered us to today--so really, it could have just as easily been produced by a young, fed-up progressive.
