Reps. Lee and Waters to file Lee Amendment today

On Thursday, Mar. 22, it is anticipated that congress will vote on the supplemental appropriations bill for the Iraq war. Representatives Lee and Waters will be filing the Lee Amendment with the House Rules Committee today and testifying in person to urge that it be made in order for debate and a vote when the FY07 Supplemental Appropriations Bill is taken up on the House floor tomorrow. PDA supports the bill only with the Lee amendment attached, which would fully fund withdrawal by the end of 2007.

There’s still time to call your Representative and tell him/her to vote yes with the Lee amendment, otherwise no on the supplemental war appropriations bill. Call Congress at 1-202-224-3121 or toll-free 1-888-851-1879.

Military Families Speak Out, Veterans against the War, and Veterans For Peace have designed two certificates to send to Congress members who vote affirmatively for the appropriations should the Lee amendment fail. If your member of Congress votes for the spending bill without the Lee amendment, then please download and send him/her a Certificate of Ownership or a Warranty Certificate.
