I know that he was in the hospital the other day - but I thought I saw a picture of him back at the WH after that visit. Why hasn't Cheney spoken out about this?

1. Simple...He's who they are protecting
Remember Carol Lam, San Diego district US atty?

She was fired because she was investigating Duke Cunningham, Dusty Foggo, Wilkes, and the Veep's office award of a $140,000 furniture contract (among others awarded to Cunningham's constituents by the government), in which the Veep's office paid $140,000 to the contractor who in turn handed the cash to Congressman Cunningham as a bribe for his assistance in getting other contracts, and Congressman Cunningham that SAME DAY went and bought a yacht with the bribe money. Cunningham's house was filled with proceeds from his bribes, including the house in which he lived, the antiques inside and the car he drove.

Cheney is attached to all of this, and the WH is of course desperate to shield discovery of this fact. So, they are playing pathetic cockblock to their detriment and great embarrassment because the potential costs of pretending to cooperate is too great. So, they have decided to go to court, delay for months, and hope another scandal or crisis knocks this issue off the front page. (sort of like the Abu Gharib photos they were ordered to release and never did, the anthrax case, bin laden and on and on)

4. I think he is the guy behind the curtain.
He usually comes out to say the war is going well.

5. I read yesterday that he had gone back to the hospital
due to discomfort in the leg that had the blood clot. Don't know if he stayed or not.
He's probably not a big fan of Gonzo, so I wouldn't expect him to come out swinging.
