Am I hearing this right? Sampson and Tolman cooked this up, no one on the committee knew about it, DOJ then tried to get Sampson appointed as USA, but Hatch objected and Tolman was appointed instead? If this is what happened, there's a whole big bunch of 'spainin to do!!!!!!!!!

2. I'd like to know if there's criminal law breaking on this.
This isn't the 1st time I've heard having "additions" put into the bill after the vote but before publication. Isn't there some kind of criminal fraud perpetrated when some tampers with official legislation?

3. What? This was put into the legislation after it had been voted on?

4. I really don't know that....but I recall at least one other time where
provisions were slipped into a bill and Democrats complained that they weren't aware of the item added. What I wonder is how do they know what is being voted on? Is there a "golden copy" that is attached to the recorded vote? How is that controlled. Seems that a Party could do some interesting things if they are "baiting and switching" bills.

6. Fair enough, I stand corrected.
We can't let our guard down on anything that's slipped into a bill; we really need to assume worst case intentions with these people. I was recalling that there was another instance of legislation that had been changed a few years back. I can't remember the details, but I remember that the accusation was made that it was added after committee. I just wonder what the safeguards are to bills to assure that our legislators are voting on bills that haven't been changed to our detriment.
