Connecting dots and Fitzgerald's fall

Published March 21, 2007

How many conversations did Karl Rove--the political Rasputin of the Bush White House--have with top Illinois Republicans about U.S. Atty. Patrick Fitzgerald?

Ten? Fifty? None?

Did Rove speak directly to Big Bob Kjellander, whom Rove engineered into the job of treasurer of the Republican National Committee?

Answers might tell us why Fitzgerald, honored in 2002 as one of the top prosecutors in the Justice Department--and the fed most feared by the bipartisan political Combine that runs Illinois--was abruptly downgraded in March 2005.

According to news reports this week, Fitzgerald was downgraded in a 2005 Justice Department memo sent to the White House and was listed among federal prosecutors who "had not distinguished themselves."

That description must have shocked the Combine because Fitzgerald has indicted and convicted bushels of politicians here.

1. ......"not distinguished themselves".......
read: are not loyal to his assholiness, George Bush. Do they have to take a blood oath, sign a loyalty oath or something like that to "distinguish themselves"?

According to Udstuen, IBM lobbyist Robert Kjellander of Springfield believed that he would not have an easy time lobbying Ryan and asked Udstuen who he could get to help him with the job of persuading the secretary of state to buy a new mainframe computer from the company.

Udstuen said that he sent Kjellander to Warner, who came up with a strategy of ramming the sale through on an emergency basis. Udstuen said he helped to implement the strategy.

He said Ryan's in-house counsel, Roger Bickel, balked at approving the emergency purchase, questioning whether there was a true emergency and saying state law was strict on the subject.

"I said, 'Roger, don't give me that legal mumbo-jumbo. Just do it,' " Udstuen testified. The $25 million computer deal went to IBM not long afterward.

3. The entire bushco regime needs to be indicted for their criminal activity........
and it would be 'justice' to have Fitzgerald involved in the prosecutions.

8. Ditto that. A couple of weeks ago Kass poo-pooed the whole thing and
was spewing the "Clinton fired all 93 USAs on the same day" line. :eyes: Flip-flopping jackass.
