Mattresses, Tomato Sauce, and Bread
We're going to the mattresses, people.

The White House has virtually nothing to lose in opposing Congress. They're down to their hardest of hard core supporters and they're the very people who are itching for this fight.

The Congress is controlled by the Dems, who were elected to 'do something'. They seem to have lost much of their antiwar fervor (if they ever had any), but the fired US attorneys is the perfect fight to pick. The unduly feared and respected Karl Rove is both the boogie man and the target.

No one's gunna blink.

No one.

1. I believe that Leahy and Conyers will stare Bush down
After all, the publicans joined the Democrats in voting to take out the prosecutor appointment provision in the Patriot Act. They are realizing that Bush wants not Republican loyalists but Bush loyalists--and isn't shy about taking away any semblance of power from the publicans in Congress.

3. A confrontation is long overdue with this WH
... and hopefully this will be the first of many that the Dems will press forward on and win.
