It seems like opinionators/political pundits and investigative journalists are on opposite sides, and it is about time the pundits get called out on it.

Seems its always the investigative journalists who get the scorn of corporate media and their apologists when its the corpmedia and political pundits who deserve the scorn and unemployment.

U.S. News Media's 'War on Gore'

By Robert Parry (A Special Report)
March 22, 2007

When historians sort out what happened to the United States at the start of the 21st Century, one of the mysteries may be why the national press corps ganged up like school-yard bullies against a well-qualified Democratic presidential candidate while giving his dimwitted Republican opponent virtually a free pass.

How could major news organizations, like The New York Times and The Washington Post, have behaved so irresponsibly as to spread falsehoods and exaggerations to tear down then-Vice President Al Gore – ironically while the newspapers were berating him for supposedly lying and exaggerating?

In a modern information age, these historians might ask, how could an apocryphal quote like Gore claiming to have “invented the Internet” been allowed to define a leading political figure much as the made-up quote “let them eat cake” was exploited by French propagandists to undermine Marie Antoinette two centuries earlier?

Why did the U.S. news media continue ridiculing Gore in 2002 when he was one of the most prominent Americans to warn that George W. Bush’s radical policy of preemptive war was leading the nation into a disaster in Iraq?

1. what investigative journalists? they've all been co-opted and
hamstrung by their corporate owners. once journalists became celebrities, and started making the big bucks, it was all over.

3. I know, but Parry stuck with it and so did Hersh. Landay, Strobel, and Weiss
still work at it, too, though they get editted more now that McClatchy took over Knight-Ridder.

pressured Newsweek to fire him back then.

Consortiumnews was one of the first investigative news sources on the internet. Hehas always maintained CLOSE TABS on the Bushes and their various crimes of office.

He's also critical of anyone who helps cover up for those crimes.

Here's a sample.

5. thank you
I like to know the "who"s and the "what"s before I send a link I'm unfamiliar with. Nothing hurts one's credibility more than a seemingly blockbuster political story followed by a "Why I love my Alien Baby" piece. :eyes:

6. I understand fully - The powerstructure likes to push the idea that ALL internet
sites are somwhow suspect.

Parry started one of the earliest sites for real investigative journalists who were getting pushed out by the corporate press in the 90s.
