Clinton and Obama Talk Union

Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton shared the headliner spotlight at a raucous Friday night rally of thousands of unionized Sin City hotel and service workers.
"I want you to know that you have a a partner in Barack Obama," the Illinois Senator said to the crowd of Vegas workers gearing up for contract renewal fight. "As long as there are folks unemployed we're going to keep on organizing, as long as there are people being taken advantage of, we're going to keep on working. ... if we keep on working, if we keep on organizing, all the workers across America are going to enjoy the American dream."
In her speech, Hillary Clinton also vowed that,if elected president, she would give added attention to the bottom rung of American workers. "We're not going to let the Republicans in Washington or anywhere else treat working families as if they were invisible," she said. "You're not invisible to us, you are not invisible to this union and you're sure not invisible to me."
While here ostensibly to support the contract campaign of the 60,000 member Culinary Workers Local 226, the Democratic contenders were actually doing some of their own campaigning. With its accelerated presidential primary, Nevada has become an early battleground state and the support of labor will be crucial to carrying it in the Democratic nomination battle. .....(more)
