Rightwing Memo: How to Blame Democrats for the Disaster in Iraq
Edited on Sat Mar-24-07 10:37 AM by Sparkly
Memo To: Republicans
From: Karl Rove, Newt Gingrich, Frank Luntz, Dick Cheney, whoever else
Subject: How to Blame Democrats for the Disaster in Iraq

1. Democrats are to blame for lack of armor, veterans' care, and a clear plan, because in an act of political theatre, they sent up a dirty bill Bush HAD to veto. Such decisions about war funding are not up to them.

2. Democrats are to blame for staying, because with the power of the purse, they could have cut off funding and gotten troops out. Decisions about war funding are up to them.

3. Democrats are to blame because they've tried to play Washington Generals, so they micromanage the war and tie the hands of the commanders on the ground. It is not up to them, it's up to the Commander in Chief.

4. Democrats are to blame for acting like it's all up to the Commander in Chief, rather than taking responsibility for approving the war in the first place and failing to end it. That was up to them.

5. Longterm blame-the-Democrats strategy after the war is lost (choose any that apply):

a. We lost the war because Democrats forced an early exit before the job was done.
b. We lost the war because Democrats tried to micromanage it.
c. We lost the war because Democrats undermined the Commander in Chief.
d. We lost the war because Democrats didn't get us out in time by cutting off funds.
e. We lost the war because Democrats didn't pass a supplemental in 2007 that Bush would agree to sign.
f. We lost the war because Democrats played politics with it.
g. We lost the war because Democrats approved it but then didn't support it.
h. We lost the war because Democrats didn't stop the MoveOn Crowd from working against it.
i. We lost the war because Democrats didn't think terrorism was real.
j. We lost the war because Democrats lost their nerve in the face of difficulty.
k. We lost the war because Democrats elected a Democratic president in 2008.
l. We lost the war because Democrats didn't support the troops.
m. We lost the war because Democrats smoke pot.
n. We lost the war because Democrats kept pushing silly hearings and investigations.

Add to the list and pass it on. We can't let the Democrats get away with this!

1. That kind of stuff might work IF the American people had not just
elected a party that was very open during the election campaign about getting us out of that very war. This is what they were asked to do and most of us knew that things in Iraq would not necessarily be great. *ss and co. have destroyed any harmony that might have happened in the ME.

3. Rpukes can't face the fact that it was a dumb idea to begin with
Dumbest thing this country has every done.
And that takes a dumb president and a dumb enabling party.
The dumbest.

4. And you call yourselves patriots
You say you love this country you'll support this great war againist the enemy because if you don't fight them there you'll have to fight them here.

I mean that's that the great Republicans have to say, we should listen to what they have to say

:sarcasm:

5. They will try to replay their Vietnam talking points
but it won't work nearly as well, because a REPUBLICAN got us into this war and not a Democrat. Also, fighting Communists in concert with a sovereign democratic nation in the middle of the Cold War is way more credible than taking down a washed up dictator that posed no credible threat to us or any of our allies.

6. True, but one other difference is the fear from 9/11.
It seems to have rattled a lot of people's brains.

Their talking points are already lined up. Time will tell whether they can sell them to more than 30% any time soon, but no doubt their version (revision) of the history will hang around forever, the same way their version of Vietnam does -- like a bad fart. (Sorry for that analogy.)
