Hatch: No "Clear Evidence" Gonzales "Deliberately" Lied to Congress
By Paul Kiel - March 25, 2007, 10:20 AM

Now we know the high standards that Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-UT) has for an attorney general:

"He has always been straightforward and honest with me," said Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah. "So, unless there is clear evidence that the attorney general deliberately lied or misled Congress, I see no reason to call for his resignation."

The AP is running this story under the headline, "Bush, key senator still backing Gonzales." So that's a constituency of two.

6. Hatch was a womanizer, I heard.
I suspect DeLay had very good documentation on that.

He was on MTP; keeps acting like it's no big deal, let's chat, and than 'maybe' subpoena.

2. Get someone from Utah to send him a link to the email
Then ask him if he can read. I suppose he can't, or he wouldn't come out in public spewing something he doesn't know is down in black and white.

4. Only a Republican believes a person can lie by accident.
The fact is Gonzo went to Congress and submitted testimony that was not true. This is a crime. Whether it's because he's corrupt or incompetent is beside the point.

22. Unless you're a Democrat - then EVERY SINGLE REPUKE LIE about the Democrat - however PREPOSTEROUS,
Edited on Sun Mar-25-07 12:51 PM by TankLV
is AUTOMATICALLY assumed to be true and worth of MILLIONS of DOLLARS of INVESTIGATIONS...

wait - on edit - I think I just answered my own question - it's still REPUKE LYING! That's at the bottom of it all...

The rank and smell and MAGNITUDE of their self serving sanctimonious HYPOCRISY is simply unbelievable.

I remain astounded at their equivocating and DOUBLE STANDARDS...

Not surprised, but still amazed at the brazenness of it all...

24. No shit...
I got into an argument on another board recently about Bill O'Lielly.

This guy's defense was "intent." He posited tha Bill "didn't know" the truth, therefore his "inaccurate statements" were not lies because he "didn't intend" to lie. He was "misinformed by his assistants," blah, blah, blah. Absolutely no concept that as an on air celeb talking head he had any responsibility for the accuracy of what he says. When he's right, he's a genius. When he's wrong, it's somebody else's fault.

And this all sprung from an eyewitness account of someone who went to a local event, and then watched O'Lielly lie about it on air. It was, of course, about a Christmas event. The poster thought he would hear something about his local school/town on the air. What he heard, of course, was the typical slam by O'Lielly ragging on his "War on Christmas" meme. Apparently, he made some outright lying statements about the Christmas displays and events in the town. My RW "friend" was adamant that a fellow member of our board had no right to criticize Bill-O so strongly. So he rolled on a friend to defend Bill-O. Tool.

"So, unless there is clear evidence that the attorney general deliberately lied or
misled Congress, I see no reason to call for his resignation."

Hatch could go to the beach and look @ the Ocean and say, "I don't see any water."

Even in Utah they will rip you from your job Orrin, if you want to cover bush's
ass for his crime spree. So if you, Orrin, want to go down with the ship I will send you
that gawd awful Celine Dion song from Titanic.

though it really takes an Alice in Wonderland approach view to believe it wasn't intentional. The issue is whether he has.

17. I agree, the evidence is not clear.
So the best thing to do would be to get all of those involved down to the committee hearings, put them under oath, and ask them what exactly was going on.

We are talking, after all, about the possibility that the justice department has been perverted by this administration of partisan political purposes. That is a matter that needs to be cleared up immediately.

18. So now the mere fact that someone lied isn't enough
They have to have done it "deliberately"? If I'm ever on trial for a crime, I want Hatch sitting on the bench:

Prosecutor: "Mr. gratuitous, you're accused of spray painting 'Orrin Hatch is so full of shit, his eyes are brown' across the front of the Capitol Building in Washington DC."

gratuitous: "Really? I had no idea that's what I was writing. I was just stringing random letters together. Whatever they spelled, I can assure you it wasn't deliberate!"

Judge Hatch: "I see no crime here. You're free to go."

gratuitous: "Thank you, Judge Brown Eyes!"

Sen. Nelson about the Dems Iraq policy and Gonzo. It's amazing he can enunciate his lies so clearly with his lips wrapped around dumbya's puny little dick. Wonder what he would look like in a blue dress?

25. That, Ma'am, Is For A Jury To Decide
Lying to Congress is a felony, and twelve citizens will be able to assess quite well whether there is clear evidence he did so past a reasonable doubt: there is more than enough evidence in hand for an indictment as matters stand now....

evidence to make the case that orrin hatch doesn't have a brain.

I can only imagine how stupid you have to be to vote for this sneaky weasel of a littleman to represent you in the Senate Chamber.
