I got too much "buildup" on Obama before I ever saw him. After all the hoop-la, I expected him to w
walk on water. So naturally anything he said or did was a letdown.

I wonder how many other voters will feel this way. Will too much flap over him hurt him in the long-run. Nobody, but nobody can live up to the expectations that have been attached to him.

I have not been able to overcome my initial disappointment and will always wonder if it would exist if I hadn't been expecting the greatest thing since sliced bread.

The expectations for Bush were always set so low that anything he did was better than what was anticipated. Obama is being set-up for just the opposite. I think it is a Republican strategy. Forcing of the expectation game worked for Bush, and it will work again AGAINST Obama.

1. I think he'll do just fine.
Obama will work for Obama, not against Obama.

4. I took a chance
and looked up his resume on wikipedia..
I knew he graduated from Law school, but he's never done anything more than legal briefs and shuffling paperwork. After watching him stumble through a LKL interview of softball questions, my fear of him standing up to not only the field of (D) candidates but the GOP attack machine has me wondering if my candidate would be completely overwhelmed early in the game.

5. Did you happen to hear his announcement speech in Springfield, Illinois?
C-Span covered it. You should have seen the faces of the people who flooded that town square to come hear him.

Speaking as an Edwards supporter, mind you, I believe no one should be underestimating Barack Obama, whether now or at any other time. The man is potent magic.

7. possibly,
but I guess, I'll just wait for the debates like everyone else and see how well he holds up against his opponents. I'm also curious as to his stance on Health Care. I haven't heard much of anything about his platform and any new initiates.

9. Maybe wander over to the DU Obama supporters group. I bet they can
direct you to some of the specific initiatives on key issues.

I think he's a good man, and ready to be president, and I could support him enthusiastically if Edwards were to drop out.

12. Just checked the Obama thread
there isn't anything on issues. Just complimentary raves on speeches and sexiness. Now, I'm really nervous. I'll check out John Edwards. I'm still undecided as to who I will support.

13. I'm one of the last people on DU to steer you away from John Edwards.
I think he's the cat's pajamas.

But don't slight Senator Obama on the basis of one or two DU threads. He's a great guy and would make a great president.

John and Elizabeth Edwards will be on 60 MINUTES this evening, if you're around to watch it.

2. I think you've hit on something there...
Maybe that's why so many people voted for *. Their expectations were so low, all he had to do was talk and avoid drooling to appear better than expected...

14. Hi to you, Katzenkavalier. Sorry to butt in here, but who are those
happy people in your photo there, and what are they celebrating?

I hope to God they're Democrats.

10. The tens of thousands of people who come see him disagree with you
He isn't my 1st pick for now, but he is a heck of a lot better than our current frontrunner, Hillary.

15. He's my No. 1 guy in terms of sheer potential for greatness--but I
tend to see greatness in people that others wouldn't. Sometimes I feel like other folks and I can't be watching or reading the same stuff, we seem to draw such different conclusions about Obama and other candidates.

17. Not if one is imbued with a
good dose of REALITY then Obama would not be a "disappointment".

Good Grief!
