The car I am referring to is the Chevy Volt concept. It is a plug-in Hybrid car.

This is what it looks like:

Unfortunately the company that "Killed" the electric car seems to be using the Volt as a PR stunt instead of trying to bring it into production.

Check the article:

"General Motors Corp. seized the world's attention in January when it unveiled plans to build the Chevy Volt -- a plug-in hybrid car touted not so much as a mode of transportation but as part of a solution to the nation's energy crisis.

The Volt grabbed headlines, lit up online chat boards and dominated the buzz at the auto show in Detroit.

There's just one problem: The Volt may never get built.

Production depends on advances in battery technology that could be years away. The uncertainty led to intense debate within GM over whether it was wise to show the Volt in Detroit. And now that the world's waiting for GM to deliver what could be the biggest environmental breakthrough so far this century, company officials are actively trying to temper expectations.

The enormity of GM's challenge was evident last week when it called journalists to a backgrounder to explain the technological hurdles facing the Volt project -- and reiterate that it can't guarantee the futuristic car will ever hit the road.

8. And it will zip up to No. 1 on the recall list.
More Toyotas are recalled than any other car.

12. That hasn't been my personal experience,
but you want to know something, how come TOYOTA IS MOVING TO NUMBER 1?

There must be something people like?

2. they used hybrid extra power to get more response - not miliage - in latest offering
Saturn Aura hybrid drops a liter in the size of the engine and only gets a mileage increase from 25 to 30 mpg

3. Leave it to GM to do everything ass-backwards.
I took a new Prius for a test drive a couple of weeks ago. That is definitely my next car.

6. I don't know if that is supposed to be a leaf.
In this photo of the Chevy Volt, there is the traditional Chevy Cross:

Maybe it's just glare giving the thing on back of the other picture a leaf-like appearance.

4. Never...ever will you see the "Volt" on the road
"Production depends on advances in battery technology that could be years away."

Battery technology is here today. This is an outright lie and a PR stunt to counter "Who Killed the Electric Car?"

7. Unfortunately I have to agree with you.
I saw "Who Killed the Electric Car".

The battery technology is there. All GM would need to do is license it from whomever has the best tech.

9. I'll kick this.
This is definitely a better looking car than most of the hybrids I currently see - which I wouldn't shell out $25,000+ for.

10. You're comparing a show car to production cars?
How about Toyota's concept Volta Hybrid from a couple years ago: http://www.toyota.com/vehicles/future/volta.html

:)

11. I wouldn't go near this thing...
the ev-1 was a much more supior car. this one still uses gas.

The ev-1, all electric, got 100-150 miles per charge.

This thing still keeps us on the oil teet.

more bullshit from the bullshiters.
