Tom DeLay compares liberals to Hitler in his new book.
"I believe it was Adolf Hitler who first acknowledged that the big lie is more effective than the little lie, because the big lie is so audacious, such an astonishing immorality, that people have a hard time believing anyone would say it if it wasn't true. You know, the big lie — like the Holocaust never happened or dark-skinned people are less intelligent than light-skinned people. Well, by charging this big lie" — that DeLay violated campaign-finance laws in Texas — "liberals have finally joined the ranks of scoundrels like Hitler."

Tom DeLay has been on a tear this week. He has been treated respectfully by the media on major shows. He even said all charges had been dropped, and he was not questioned.

It is amazing the double standard our media holds for people like Tom DeLay. Our Democrats are pumped and put down on TV, while the bug man is treated respectfully.

The Bug Man Becomes A Pest To Conservatives

Crooks and Liars linked to Down With Tyranny who picks up on the absurdity that is Tom DeLay.

OK, I'll try to make this my last mention of Tom DeLay until his trial; no promises though. Yesterday's Houston Chronicle got to the bottom of why 4 board members of the American Conservative Union resigned when the ACU brought on the Little Bug Man. I mean, we all know why-- no one wants to be associated with an outrageous and exposed crook like DeLay-- but what's interested is how they couched their disdain for their former champion.

1. Well, I mean, if you're judging the state of your life on how much DeLay hates you
then I'd say you're doing pretty good at this point if he brings in Hitler.

3. Repbulicon corruption isn't the big lie

They're the only group I assume guilty until proven innocent.
They got that the old fashioned way - they earned it.
The mushroom cloud in the Chimp's state of the union speech is the big lie.
He's kind of paraphrasing the old fuhrer here too.
In the translation of Mein Kampf I read, the big lie was one the public would be afraid to disbelieve.
Morality was not mentioned as part of the big lie process.

Why do so many republicans and militant religios so easily remind one of nasty animals, etc.?

4. I wonder who wrote this book for Delay.....
there is no way he wrote it. He must have just given an interview to some RW hack and it was written for him.

12. Because we can forget that he's a criminal.
They pull Rove and Rumsfeld from public view so people forget that they are still there, working like always. Out of sight, out of mind. That goes for charges against Delay as well. Out of sight, out of mind. Worked for Newt, etc. These people are experts at outwaiting problems.

Reframe him as a freedom fighter (haha, he fights against freedom, I made a funny) and people will march along. They follow Limbaugh, remember? Wave a flag wildly enough and someone will salute it.

14. Exposure
I, too, want to know why this jerk is being wooed by the media. What could this man possibly have to say that would be worth listening to.
We know what he did when he was in office. It wasn't pretty and it wasn't honest. It seems to me that he doesn't even believe in democracy.
Why do they let him speak on TV? WHY?

Who is next? Duke Cunningham?

16. They don't care if he's a crook....they hate his big governmnent stance
""He was part of a congressional leadership that oversaw a massive expansion of the government, which conservatives opposed," said Robert Luddy, a North Carolina businessman among the board members who resigned. "It is one thing to call yourself a conservative, but you have to act on it."

The sentiment was echoed by political strategist Marc Rotterman, another board defector.

"Conservatives looked to Tom DeLay to cut government not grow it. He was complicit in the largest expansion of government in recent times."

Ok to be a crook, just be sure you are for that bathtub-sized government.

Amazon.ca Sales Rank: #12,418 in Books

Needs some work to push it up higher.

Especially since the normal right-winger method of boosting sales is probably closed to this "tell all" book.

Usually certain rich right-wing organizations order thousands and thousands of copies to create a "best seller" and then end up giving them away or re-pulping them.

============

On Edit: Here's a much better product about delay:

http://www.amazon.com/Big-Buy-Delays-Stolen-Congress/dp/B000F9UEK2

"By the time we finish this poker game, there may not be a federal government left! Which would suit me just fine." -Tom DeLay, 1994

In a stunning 1994 interview, shortly after the now infamous Republican revolution, Tom DeLay sat down and laid out his vision for America: to destroy the Department of Education, HUD, OSHA, the NEH, the NEA, the Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Energy. His self-stated goal was to "completely redesign government."

The Big Buy: Tom DeLay's Stolen Congress is the story of how he did just that. It's the story of one of the most blatant power grabs in American history, and how a District Attorney in Texas turned out to be the biggest threat to the national DeLay Machine. The film is a warning about how easy it is for American democracy to be hijacked by a combination of relentless ambition and corporate millions. It makes the case that DeLay built a "custom-made Congress" that is still providing votes for his agenda."
