Your Top Story Today? Anna Nicole!
I'm stuck home sick from work today so I'm a little under the weather and dialing around on the news stations, figuring I can at least use the opportunity to catch up on the news -- and my, oh my, did I pick a bad day to do that. It seems that even though Anna Nicole Smith is deceased and buried, the corporate media's obsession with her story has still not been put to rest.

You would never know from what you see on the television news today that we're at war in two countries, that we just lost five more soldiers in Iraq yesterday or that the U.S. Justice Department is in a total meltdown.

But you would sure know about Anna Nicole Smith's autopsy! Here's what's on the front page of the major television news organizations' -- and I use the term "news" very losely with Fox -- web sites right now:

Ah, but we'll always have C-SPAN, won't we?

3. I am just about ready to program CNN out of my remote
Can you believe they have 45 minutes or more of non-stop Anna Nicole? Here we have what amounts to a constitutional crisis. An unending war in Iraq. Legislation to end that war. The AG office appointing partisan attorneys to perform partisan acts and the press has this non-stop coverage.

It is a damn shame that someone does not start a cable news show that tells the news and leaves yellow journalism to CNN, MSNBC and Fox.

5. I say keep those Anna Nicole stories comin'. I get disoriented when
they drop off the front page.

I lose my appetite.

I can't find the car keys.

I don't recognize the dog.

Voices intrude on my thinking.

Food doesn't taste right.

It's horrible.

The more Anna Nicole we get, the better off I am.

7. I am surprised that with such "breaking" news
Katie Couric was not the lead "journalist" on this high-import information.

9. "Ah, but we'll always have C-SPAN, won't we?" ..... No, I won't!

@#&(**@#$^%$% Comcast cable here in Alexandria is REMOVING C-Span2 to join with C-Span3 on digital. I have basic cable because I don't want, nor need, digital cable! I only watch C-Span, CNN, HGTV and Food Network, and some network channels, mainly. I have C-Span and C-Span2 only until 3/31.

I have called Comcast on numerous occasions and requested them to put a hearing on channel 70, Alexandria's bulletin board, which they often do anyway without asking. I have been begging them to put C-Span3 on basic. Not only will they not do that but they are taking away C-Span2! I am so P*ssed! I hate cable companies because we are all captive customers in a damned monopoly! I suppose I could do dishTV, but what a bother; I have my broadband with Comcast, also.

I heard a man from Atlanta on Washington Journal this morning and he related that Comcast is doing the same thing there. They're probably doing in all their areas! They don't want the people to see what their government is doing!
