Remember when the Congressional Black Caucus stood up in '00, despite a lack of votes?

This rant is geared towards those of you who keep talking about "not having the votes." This is the same buffoonery that got us to the point where we're at now, with 7 years of Bush in office. Imagine if at least one Democratic Senator had the courage to do the right thing on that day?

No, the CBC certainly did "not have the votes" that day, but they damn sure tried, and their efforts will go down in history.

With the votes (even the losing ones) comes a chance to make a speech, explain your position, try to sell the public on doing the right thing.

November has been heartening, as has what has happened since, but I am not sure the fundamental problems have moved an iota.
