1. That's not good
I wish him the best, but he probably doesn't have a very good prognosis.

3. A pre-emptive message from the DU Admins.
I have instructed the moderators that they have my permission to remove wildly inappropriate comments about Tony Snow having cancer, if such comments are posted. I know most DUers would never post such things. But if there are any trolls out there who are thinking of posting such things... Don't.

are right now troll-mining for bad comments, then they will run to Howard Kurtz, and cry about it. My prayers and hopes for the best for Mr. Snow and his family.:patriot:

29. Thank you for
setting the right tone.

Politics are so beside the point in these circumstances. I lost a loved one earlier this month to liver met. and though he was a life-long Republican, his death devastated my Democratic heart.

I wish Mr. Snow all the best for a good long run.

33. Brook, I'm really sorry to hear of your loss
There are so many high-profile cancer announcements these days, and every one must be a painful reminder for the people who've lost loved ones.

I hope you and your family are doing well...

37. Thank you for your kindness.
I'm not so good at sharing something like this publicly. We're a strong family though...with a great deal of love for one another...lucky and blessed. I hurt more for my kids than for me.

34. Having Had Four Members Of My Family Die From Cancer...
I must say that this "scourge" is quite awful. Not only that, in the past year I also had three friends die from cancer too!

My mother died from Pancreatic cancer at a relatively young age of 67, given how long people do live today. We are currently caring for my mother-in-law who will soon be 95 and has severe Alzheimer's and has been living here for 8 years now. I never got to know any of my grand-parents because they died before I was born, my one grand-mother dying of ovarian cancer at 36!

Even though many advances have been made over the years, I personally think that our "environment" heavily contributes to this illness. I quit my job as a typesetter at a printing company some years back when an OSHA warning was posted stating that we would work there at our own risk. Meaning that the "chemicals" that were being used daily were known to cause cancer and other illnesses. If OSHA wasn't going to be responsible, it was a real RED FLAG for me!

Living down here in Florida there are so many chemicals used to treat bug infestation that I seriously worry ALL THE TIME about chemical run off into the Gulf, lakes and rivers here. I'm sure it's a problem all over too!

No, it doesn't matter WHO IT IS... I hope that this will shine a larger focus on just how very devastating CANCER is. Especially when you suffer through months and months of pain an agony.

I will NEVER FORGET a statement my mother made a couple of days before she died. She had been in bed for about six months and basically was just drinking Demerol to ease the pain. Her Priest came to give her "last rights" and a comment was made that she over heard. Thinking he was out of earshot, the Priest said he was surprised she was still alive, to which she replied... "I want to go, I just don't know how!" I have NEVER forgotten this and NEVER will.

I know many to survive, but it must be a real shot to the gut to know there was a remission and then find out the dreaded evil returned!! To all who suffer, be strong and "keep HOPE alive!"

10. Not a good prognosis at all
considering the liver filters blood to the rest of the body.
I am guessing that the freepers probably want him to quit his job so that he can spend the rest of his time with his family?
Anything else would be hypocritical.
My Dad died of lung cancer with liver and brain mets. It is not pleasant and I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy. I wish the best for Mr. Snow and his illness.

....considering the horrible stuff they've been posting about the Edwards.

I've always liked Tony Snow. I disagree with almost everything he says, but he always struck me as more level-headed than most of the right wingers. I'm hoping for the best for him.

WASHINGTON: U.S. presidential spokesman Tony Snow's surgery to remove a small growth showed that his
cancer has returned, the White House said Tuesday.

Snow, 51, had his colon removed in 2005 and underwent six months of chemotherapy after being diagnosed
with colon cancer. A small growth was discovered last year in his lower right pelvic area, and it was removed
on Monday. Doctors determined that it was cancerous, and that his cancer had metastasized, or spread, to his
liver, White House spokeswoman Dana Perino said.

She said Snow is resting comfortably after his surgery and has pledged to aggressively fight the disease with
an as-yet-to-be-determined treatment course.

"He said he's going to beat it again," Perino said in an emotional briefing with White House reporters. "When I
talked to him, he was in very good spirits."

23. I'm no expert, but I don't think this is liver cancer
Its colon cancer, mestasized to the liver. I'm told (by people who know way more about this than I do), that this is not the same as liver cancer and that there are some promising treatments for colon cancer, even when the disease reaches this stage.

32. I think you're right
My grandmother passed away last year from colon cancer that went to her liver, and her doctors were able to have a lot of success at keeping it in check and prolonging her life (and quality thereof) even though she was a bit frail and in her 80s. Hopefully, Snow's doctors will have similar success, especially since he's young and seems very fit...

Now we will all have tons of news reports on surviving that kind of cancer.

Pretty depressing stuff here the last couple of weeks.

16. Let's hope it can be contained
My dad had surgery for colon cancer two years ago. At that time, two spots were found on his liver. Chemo has kept those spots from growing. I hope Mr. Snow
does as well as my father.

22. I am truly sorry to hear that Tony Snow's cancer has gone to his liver.
That is never good news. I may disagree with his politics, but would not carry that disagreement over to something as devastating as this. I truly hope that something can be done, if not to cure, at least to control it so that he has years more with his family and time to do whatever it is that he loves.
