Impeachment: The word keeps popping up and from unlikely sources
I have to admit when Speaker Pelosi said impeachment was off the table after the 2006 election, I was disappointed. I sort of understood the logic but I was still upset. Bush has gotten away with so much, and Clinton was impeached over so little....
I heard those here who said that Pelosi was right. That, if the Dems came bounding in and started impeachment hearings, we could lose the public--like the Republicans did when they impeached Clinton. Instead, they told us, the Dems needed to investigate and let the public come around to impeachment. It just seemed like it would take forever and then may not happen.
I have to say: you were right. How many talking heads have uttered the "I" word this week? Can't you feel it coming? I have heard the WH say umpteen times this week that Congress does not have oversight over the WH. Did they skip that part of the Constitution? It may not be this week or next month, but I feel it building. I hear little things at work form people I would never expect. How much can the public stomach before the vast and over-whleming majority say--ENOUGH! We're are quickly approaching that time. Soon, we will have more Republicans than just Hagel saying the "I" word in public.

1. You know the phrase "hate to say I told you so"?
Well, in this instance, I don't hate to say "I told you so", I'm just grateful that you see why the dems have handled the things they way they have. Methodical as opposed to emotional.

2. Keep using the word in your daily life ........
....... "We the People" are famously always ahead of our elected reps in Washington. Get the buzz for impeachment going on the ground in your own neighborhood. Let it spread, as they love to say, virally. Come summer recess, the pols will start to hear it almost as a chant or chorus back home.

3. It means worlds more when someone like my mom's husband uses it.
He is registered unaffiliated. He likes to bad mouth Dems and Reps both. He has always said we should respect the commander in chief though. He said this weekend he thought Bush might get himself impeached. He also said he had never seen someone so pompous and full of himself.
I am the wild crazy liberal Dem. If I say "impeach him" it means as much as Newt G saying it about Clinton. When someone like my mom's husband says it, it means Bush is headed for trouble.

4. I'll Still Believe It When I See It....
Talk is still CHEAP, especially when it comes from the mouth of a repub.

King george has another 20 months, and I'll still be amazed if they can get impeachment proceedings against him.

6. Too many more have died while some wanted to play this waiting game.
Impeachment is years overdue and I still do not see it happening. Talking heads and relatives don't have the power to impeach, only your elected persons do. Will they?
