Gerth working on Hillary hit piece, book due in August
<Just as Hillary Clinton is celebrating raising $10 million last week, the presidential candidate has something to worry about.

<A biography of the New York senator co-authored by Jeff Gerth, the New York Times reporter who first wrote about Whitewater, is filled with "explosive stuff" and "may force her to answer ethics charges in the Senate" in a partisan game of Hacky Sack to throw her off course, says our publishing source.

<"Her Way: The Hopes and Ambitions of Hillary Clinton," written with Don Van Natta, is due from Little, Brown in August, six months before moved-up primaries in many states. The authors got a million-dollar advance, New York magazine reported.>

3. LOL - who will take him seriously other than Fox News and Drudge?

Jeff Gerth
Where's the media mea culpa?

Though the final Whitewater report clearly shows the Clintons were innocent, the New York Times and Washington Post arrogantly refuse to admit they were wrong.

7. Well, the Clintons appear to be taking the ole Whitewater hack seriously
And Junior's 2001 presidential secrecy edict looks like it's coming in handy:

As Hillary campaign gears up, researchers and journalists finding it hard to get papers out of Presidential Library

BY GLENN THRUSH
March 19, 2007
NEWSDAY

<...The museum's 138-million-page presidential archive could play an important role in determining how Hillary Rodham Clinton's controversial White House past will affect her attempt to reclaim 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

<"I haven't received any documents or even a note indicating that they're searching the records," said Jeff Gerth, a former New York Times reporter who requested a wide range of the first lady's files for an unauthorized Clinton biography he's working on.>

<...Gerth, whose request was logged on Jan. 17, 2006, should be among the first to receive documents - or a rejection letter - based on the library's first-come, first-served policy. He has received neither.>

<...Under the Presidential Records Act, an ex-president's designated representative, in this case Lindsey, has the power to reject any release under the catch-all justification that the document reveals internal White House deliberations.

These so-called "P5" rejections are only allowed for the 12 years after a president leaves office, but President George W. Bush issued a November 2001 executive order that effectively extends that power indefinitely.>

28. Agreed, Gerth has an agenda
that's why the thread has "hit piece" in the title. The point, which you miss, is that Bush's penchant for secrecy doesn't hurt the Clintons at all in situations such as this.

4. This only helps her...when will Republicans and the media realize..
That these over the top attacks on here just increase her popularity...everyone sees them for what they are and it produces a sympathetic backlash...

I'm actually looking forward to this book coming out...

5. You can pre-order it in on Amazon; it's the mother of all Hillary books!
to listen to the PR...

<She is one of the most influential and recognizable figures in
our country, and perhaps the single most divisive individual
in our political landscape. She has been the subject of both
hagiography and vitriolic smear jobs. But although dozens
of books have been written about her, none of them have
come close to uncovering the real Hillary--personal,
political, in all her complications.>

11. This is hit piece season on Obama..maybe you missed it
According to the MSM, he's a gaffe-prone rookie, an all style, no substance know-nothing who fabricates his own life story for political gain.

And that's just in the last week. No kleenex needed here.

17. Every post I read of yours is about
denigrating Hillary. Do you really think that will get your candidate elected?

Why don't you market Obama in a positive way and show what his strengths are? That is how you make converts......

Pissing-off Hillary supporters is a really bad idea!

Remember....if Obama is the nominee, you will need Hillary supporters as well.

Understand, debate of the pros/cons of each candidate is important and necessary, taking delight in a "hit" piece on any candidate sounds desperate......

20. What do I need to do in order to get an anti-Clinton book published?
I've been thinking for a while now that I could do the job of all RW pundits, do it ten times as well as they do, and do it for half the price.

I'll write a anti-Hillary book, an anti-Bill book, TWO anti-Clintons books, an anti-Gore book, and one other Dem of the publishers choice.

Then, I will release a series of books attacking Islam, Evolution, Global Warming, and liberals.

I am confident that I could have all ten or so of these books done by the 2008 election, and will do them all for only $5 million.

...you can even be ugly and have a record sucking whore's toes, abusing Oxycontin or sexually assaulting workmates...

It is tempting to be a Reich Wing GOP author for a couple quick book deals and a few million and then repent after you bought a private island in the Pacific... hmmm....

22. Actually, the more Clinton trashing books there are will only help her out
People have read all they can or want about the Clintons from the usual suspects. For some, it's an example of Senator Clinton's "unelectability" and for others, a chance to knaw on more usually unfounded vitriol.

Gerth's new book will make the publicity circuit on Fox Noise and perhaps some of the other corportainment channels, but most people will just yawn when they hear about a new Clinton-trashing book.

The more pathetic the "Right" gets with these books, the more Senator Clinton can play it to her advantage. Parsing that, I don't see a lot of shift in new approval numbers but more sympathy that the GOP will stoop to any level... any major contending Presidential candidate is going to have an opposition book out to demonize them.

25. Thanks for the fair perspective. I agree! I find it
interesting that the RW repugs spent $50,000,000 investigating the Clintons, and could only make a BJ stick!!

Imagine.....spending that kind of money investigating a repug, any of them......ohhh the skeletons we could find!!!!

Old Newt was screwing an intern and cheating on his wife......uhh.....screwing Newt....pass the barf bag, and all of that while calling for the impeachment of Clinton......what a slob....hypocrit!!!!!

I say that if the Repugs wanna play "gotcha politics" and try writing books about our candidates that we strike back with such force (and with REAL facts) that they cry like wittle babies in da cornuh...they play the Victim Card even better than the Holier Than Thou Card...
