AP: Sampson to Ask, What's Political Mean, Anyway?
By Paul Kiel - March 28, 2007, 6:31 PM

From the AP:

Eight federal prosecutors were fired last year because they did not sufficiently support President Bush's priorities, Attorney General Alberto Gonzales' former chief of staff says in remarks prepared for delivery Thursday to Congress.

"The distinction between 'political' and 'performance-related' reasons for removing a United States attorney is, in my view, largely artificial," said Kyle Sampson.

The aide, who quit because of the furor over the firings, is to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee. A copy of his prepared remarks was obtained Wednesday by The Associated Press.

"A U.S. attorney who is unsuccessful from a political perspective ... is unsuccessful," Sampson said.

This is gonna be fun.

1. I see that the right wing is getting it's talking points ready for their brain dead followers
to parrot on C-SPAN's Washington Journal tomorrow. Those poor people are pathetic. I hope they pay them a small stipend because it's a wonder that they can even feed themselves.

3. I've been trying to think of a good way
to describe these actions without using the word "politicize" or "politics" as they don't really convey the essence of what has been going on with regards to the USA firings. What has been happening is they have been stacking the deck if one were to use poker terminology, in other words, cheating. The White House a.k.a. Karl Rove has been putting henchmen and cronies in important and critical State's Attorneys offices who will do the administration's bidding without question.
