Whats with the media love fest for Fred Thompson.
this motherfucker is polling 12% in the rethug polling and they are all having ORGASMS!! over this guy because he's an actor. The media loves to catch on to a candidate like they did Obama and build them up then tear them down. you notice they don't even barely talk about Obama now except if it's about negative press.

20. Bingo. You just wrote what millions of rural white male voters
will say about him, only they will mean it. He will draw the male swing voters like a magnet, even if he is VP on the ticket with Rudy - he will make it OKAY for them to vote for Rudy.

That ticket would be the Perfect Storm against us. Laugh about it at our peril.

25. I can agree with you on that one.
All us Southern folk know this about Thompson.

If he's the nominee, well... I won't say.

They've chewed everyone else up in their need to keep calling the horse race while the fillies are still in the barns.

Give him two months and he'll look like dog food, too.

That's all. And a story that has a sort of infotainment feel to it since that's what they're convinced we want as consumers.

8. I don't get it. He's a worse actor than Reagan was which is partially
why Law and Order is not doing that well.

He's married a woman young enough to be his daughter and looks scruffy, i.e., IMO he doesn't clean up well.

Beyond the obvious, he's a right wing conservative nut ball. We don't need more of them.

Tweety gets a man crush on almost any man who swaggers and talks tough. Margaret Carlson is such a good enabler today. BTW what function does she serve? :puke:

14. he makes it ok to diss Gandhi and John (Lennon)
to read thompson's diatribe about Gandhi (who once stopped nationwide riots by fasting to the verge of death - representatives of the Hindu/Muslim extremist factions, who were attacking each others' populations and turning the border areas of what became Pakistan/India into charnel houses, literally begged him to eat! Gandhi kept up his fast until the BBC reported the country was quiet, then he ordered a pizza :)) is to recognise a damn fool.

I feel bad for Nancy Pelosi, AND her neighbors. Anti-war activists from the group Code Pink have been giving her the same treatment the president gets at his Crawford, Texas, ranch. Camping on her San Francisco lawn, they’re demanding she cut off funds to the troops in Iraq.
Besides coolers and mattresses, protesters have brought along a giant paper mache statue of Mahatma Gandhi, who is pretty much the symbol of the anti-war movement. Code Pink was founded on his birthday, and when Saddam Hussein was being given a last chance to open Iraq to U.N. weapons inspectors, posters appeared around America asking “What would Gandhi do?”

snip

The so-called peace movement certainly has the right to make Gandhi’s way their way, but their efforts to make collective suicide American foreign policy just won’t cut it in this country. When American’s think of heroism, we think of the young American soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan, risking their lives to prevent another Adolph Hitler or Saddam Hussein.
Gandhi probably wouldn't approve, but I can live with that.

Note: I read a biography of Gandhi years ago, and i never heard him give advice to the Jewish people regards nazism, or so on. By 1939, when the war got going, Gandhi was caught up in the struggle to free India from British rule - even if he suggested total surrender, he was assuming the oppressor was intelligent and able to react morally (which the nazis, not to mention white south africa faced with black insurrection, were not!)
thompson thinks gandhi was a fool, a mindless dupe. and he wants to be president!
btw thanks to James Wolcott

16. this reminds me of what happened in 2004..
Edwards and Clark split the southern primary vote, while liberals who were afraid Lieberman might be nominated ultimately rallied behind John Kerry.

Republicans already have three southerners running..if Fred Thompson runs that will be four, and Newt Gingrich would make five! if Fred Thompson gets on the ticket, it will only be as a running mate for another candidate like Romney or McCain!

18. Don't discount this guy
He's a hell of a campaigner and he's somebody who could appeal to a lot of conservatives who are sick at what's become of their party, moderate Repubs and independents, not to mention conservative Dems. He's the last one I'm hoping they pick, because he will be a challenge to beat.

23. "Whats with the media love fest for Fred Thompson." Simple.. Really...
They think he is the only person running or thinking of running that can beat "Hitlery!!!"

Their usual obsession with all things Clinton and their win at all cost mentality.

their mind mentality is .hey look.....he has a "hot" wife....whos about 30 younger than he is...they have babies under 10..........hes a true GOP family man.........
She was a big GOP figure .....look at her Bio.

On June 29, 2002, Thompson married Jeri Kehn, an attorney and a political media consultant at the Verner, Liipfert, Bernhard, and McPherson law firm in Washington, D.C.

She once worked for the Senate Republican Conference
and the Republican National Committee.

In October 2003, they had a daughter, Hayden Victoria Thompson, and another child during November 2006<15>.

30. The next actor president
like Ronald Reagan. He'll be able to read his lines more convincingly than Bush, an ideal puppet for the puppeteers.

Plus, some people know and like him from his acting roles, though I, for one, was completely put off when he became the DA on Law & Order (gag, choke, puke). But every L&O episode on NBC and every rerun on cable allows him to display a manly gravitas, a bit of 'leadership' and a penchant for law and order (their favorite theme ... ain't that a hoot) which the GOP will gladly use to feed the sheeple.

Doesn't matter that it's all play acting. He can sell it like actors Ronald and Arnold ... It's a GOP thing that has worked for them. So, don't play Thompson cheap ... he could turn out to be our next nightmare.

Lord help us.
